For any system running Windows XP Service Pack 2 and any version of Systems Insight Manager and System Management Homepage or any system running Windows XP Service Pack 2 and browsing to Systems Insight Manager running on any supported operating system, you must complete the following.

• Procedure 3 Configure Windows XP Service Pack 2 firewall to allow access to System Management Homepage

1. On the Windows XP system, select Start→Settings→Control Panel→Security center→Windows Firewall to configure the firewall settings.

2. Click the Exceptions tab, and then click Add Port.

3. Add the following exceptions to the firewall protection. Enter the product name and the port number for each.

Usage is configurable in Systems Insight Manager. 4. In the Add a Port window, click OK. 5. In the Windows Firewall window, click OK.

This configuration leaves the Windows XP Service Pack 2 security enhancements intact and allows traffic over the ports.

NOTE: Systems Insight Manager discovers Web servers on other ports

• Procedure 4 Enable file and print sharing and Remote Administration Exception 1. Enable file and print sharing:

a. Select Start→Settings→Control Panel. b. Select Security Center.

c. Click Windows Firewall to configure the firewall settings. d. Click the Exceptions tab.

e. Select the File and Print sharing checkbox. f. Click OK.

2. Enable Remote Administration Exception:

a. In the Control Panel, open the Group Policy editor. b. Select Computer Configuration.

c. Select Administrative Templates. d. Select Network.

e. Select Network Connections. f. Select Windows Firewall. g. Select Domain profile.

h. Select Enable the Windows Firewall: Allow Remote Administration Exception. • Procedure 5 Configure Windows XP Service Pack 2 to allow access to HP Systems Insight

Manager on the system running Windows XP Service Pack 2 and HP Systems Insight Manager 1. On the Windows XP system, select Start→Settings→Control Panel→Security

This configuration leaves the Windows XP Service Pack 2 security enhancements intact and allows traffic over the ports listed in the table.

Systems Insight Manager is now installed and initialized on the CMS. To browse to Systems Insight Manager, use the icon that appears on your desktop after installation is complete, or start the Systems Insight Manager GUI using Internet Explorer or Firefox at http://<IP_Address>:280/. To configure Systems Insight Manager using the First Time Wizard, see“Configuring HP Systems Insight Manager using the First Time Wizard” (page 36).

• For details about installing and configuring the required Management Agentson the systems that will be managed by the CMS, see“Setting up and configuring managed systems” (page

40). Next, complete the initial setup of Systems Insight Manager. Initial setup involves adding managed systems, addingusers, setting upauthorizations, and configuring event handling. • For details about installing and configuring the HP Insight Remote Support Advanced, see

“Installing HP Integrated Remote Support” (page 44).

NOTE: If Systems Insight Manager has not been registered, the Systems Insight Manager Registration window and First Time Wizard appear when a user with administrative rights logs in to Systems Insight Manager for the first time. Follow the onscreen instructions to register Systems Insight Manager or click Register Later to register at another time.

NOTE: The First Time Wizard configures only the basic settings of an initial setup for Systems Insight Manager. Additional configuration options are available in the Systems Insight Manager graphical user interface.
