This title in the Percy range is designed to further develop children’s counting skills!

The fun activities included in the program encourage the user to practice counting in differ- ent contexts, including counting on from a number and counting in twos, fives and tens. In addition, the player can practice counting organised and randomly placed objects, as well as being encouraged to sort items before they count.

Stimulating graphics, speech and sound effects accompany a range of educational activi- ties that will enable children to build a solid foundation in early mathematics.

The friendly caterpillar, Percy, asks the children to help him complete interesting activities that involve simple sums using both numbers and pictures, dividing objects into sets, comparing objects of different sizes and sorting them into sequences. The games combine to con- solidate the skills of counting, grouping, comparison, sequences, simple addition, subtraction and number recognition.

With the friendly caterpillar, Percy, children are encouraged to develop their counting and number recognition skills, through a series of fun activities.

An animated on-screen number book, introduces the user to numbers up to 20 and recog- nising numbers. The activities are designed to build on the child’s skills, with 3 difficulty levels, to cover the themes of counting, comparing numbers, sequencing numbers and ordinal numbers.

Children can join Percy the caterpillar to practice skills involved with time. Spoken instructions, colourful graphics and animations make this ideal for unsupervised use in the classroom. The six activities feature both analogue and digital clocks and encourage the player to par- ticipate in activities that involve reading the time, setting a clock to given times, finding a clock with a given time, placing events in the correct order and working out time differences.

The latest version of this popular software helps anyone improve their basic numer- acy. It addresses many of the difficulties which lead students to dislike maths. These include poor short term memory, limited attention span and poor sequencing skills. The program features 45 games to teach and reinforce numeracy in ways which add meaning and understanding to num- bers. NumberShark 4 covers: • Operations + - x ÷. • Numbers to 7 digits. • Negative numbers. • Percentages, fractions and decimals. • Worded problems. • Maths vocabulary.

Personalised learning can be supported by setting up individual programmes of work and records of student activities are kept. Worksheets can be printed in a variety of formats. Variable speeds and other op- tions meet different skill levels.

MathsWiz 1 has over 120 exercises form- ing a comprehensive revision resource. The exercises cover addition and subtrac- tion, from numbers up to ten to over 1000, multiplication and division (from 2 x table to over 1000), decimals and fractions (in- cluding comparison), negatives with num- ber line (including a thermometer), per- centages and first quadrant coordinates. Some exercises require the pupils to en- ter their answer via keyboard, whilst others are multiple choice. These are suitable for mental methods or by use of a calculator. Exercises, particularly measures, are also supported, weight and length including unit comparison, estimation and problem solving; time including use of analogue clocks and calculations; geometry includ- ing angles, perimeter and area.

Build an understanding of Mathematical concepts and practise your skills. Over 120 exercises designed to teach addition, sub- traction, multiplication, division, decimals, time, money, length, weight, volume, per- centages, equations, negative numbers, geometry and fractions. Ideal for pupils aged 12 to 15.

Other exercises promote an understand- ing of whole numbers, decimals and pow- ers. Some exercises require the pupil to supply an answer, while others are multiple choice. Others have a time limit, which can be extended or removed.

Teachers can use MathsWiz 2 to create individual learning programmes for their learners and each pupil’s results can be recorded, to assess their progress. Teach- ers can also use the program to create additional questions and exercises tailored to their learners’ needs.

This fun and stimulating title is aimed at children just mastering early numbers. It features ten popular, traditional songs, seven of which have been re-written to count up from 1 to 5.

Lively tunes and lovable animated characters engage the children, encouraging them to count along with the music. The songs are offered in three progressive stages: playing all the way through; counting before each verse; asking the child to count before each verse. A set of accompanying activities consolidate and expand the children’s counting skills.

Ten original, contemporary-style songs with entertaining animations, designed for children with learning difficulties. Seven of the songs count up from 1 to 5, whilst three count down.

The catchy songs, along with a set of interactive activities, are of- fered in three progressive stages. Counting Songs 2 motivates the older child while respecting their greater years. May also be suitable for some early years learners and teens. Counting Songs 1 & 2 can be used with a touch screen, mouse or switches.
