5.16.1
Printing images on paper or transparency film
A print can be made of what is displayed on the examination monitor.
1 Make sure the printer is switched on and contains paper/transparency.
2 In case of an image, select the desired image as described in the previous chapters.

-2 In case of a dose report, select the desired examination type as described in Section 5.13.5, ‘Dose report’.
3 Print the image by pressing the appropriate button on the printer.
For full instructions on using printers, refer to the printer’s user manual.
The use of printing paper/transparency film types other than those specified in the printer’s user manual may result in diminished printer performance and poor print quality.
C A U T I O N S • Do not leave unused or printed paper/transparency in hot or humid places.
• Do not leave paper/transparency in a place subject to direct sunlight or bright room light for an extended period of time.
• Store unused or printed paper/transparency in a cool, dark place (below 30°C / 86°F), preferably in a polypropylene pouch.
• Do not stack printed paper/transparency on or under a freshly-developed diazo copy sheet.
• Do not allow any volatile organic solvent or vinyl chloride to contact the paper/
transparency.
• Alcohol, plastic tape or film will fade the printout. Attach printed paper to other pieces of paper with double sided plastic tape or water-based solid glue.

Recording images on video cassette (optional)
The images on the examination monitor can be recorded on a VHS video cassette.
N O T E For full instructions on using the video cassette recorder, please refer to the user manual supplied by the manufacturer.
Recording the images

1 Switch on the VCR unit and insert a video cassette.
2 If the BV Libra has not been set up for automatic recording, press the
|Record| key on the VCR when the first image is shown on the monitor.
Both live and LIH images can now be recorded.
3 Make the images as described in the Sections 5.9 and 5.10.
When the BV Libra has been setup for ‘VCR slave recording’ (depending on the examination type and the installation settings) the VCR will start and stop recording automatically.
For a list of which examination types have been set for ‘VCR slave recording’
see Section 10.4, ‘APF settings’.
N O T E S • Only live images are recorded when the system is set up for VCR slave recording.
• Text such as the hospital name or the date of birth is not shown on screen during live fluoroscopy (and is therefore not recorded). However the text is shown on LIH screens. (To always display the text please contact the local Service Organization.
See also chapter 3 ‘User customization’.)
• The recorded images have the 50Hz CCIR format.

Replaying the images recorded on the VCR 1 Switch the VCR on and insert the video cassette.
2 Press the |Video replay| key [25] on the mobile viewing station console. This prepares the system to accept the VCR pictures. When the function is active the LED next to the key is on.
3 Press the |Play| key on the VCR to start replay.
The video images are shown on the examination monitor. The ‘Video active’
indicator is shown on the screen to indicate that these images are coming from a video cassette.
4 During replay, the video cassette can be controlled using the VCR function keys.
5 After viewing, press the |Video replay| key [25] again to display the image that was displayed before the VCR replay was started.

Recording images with the Video CD Recorder (VCDR) (optional)
Recording images on CD-R and CD-RW
With the (optional) Video CD Recorder (VCDR) it is possible to store images on CD-R and CD-RW discs. Both Static and Dynamic images can be recorded in DVD quality.
C A U T I O N Never interrupt a recorder’s action except record and play.

Recording images
1 On the mobile viewing station console, press the |Video replay| key [25].
This will prepare the system to accept the VCDR output (images and On-Screen display). When the |Video replay| function is active, the LED next to the key is lit.
2 If required, on the VCDR, press the |Power| button to switch on the VCDR.
3 Press the |Eject| button to open the CD tray.
4 Insert a CD (CD-R/CD-RW) and press the |Eject| button to close the CD tray.
If the inserted disc is blank, an On-Screen display with a list of possible recording formats will be displayed.
5 Using the |Previous| and |Next| buttons, select the ‘CD/DVD’ recording format on the VCDR display panel, confirm the selection by pressing the
|Menu/Enter| button.
C A U T I O N The ‘CD/DVD’ format is the default setting for optimal image quality.
6 Press the |Rec| button on the VCDR. The images displayed on the
examination monitor will now be recorded. Images on the reference monitor cannot be recorded.
N O T E S • The VCDR will take 5-10 seconds to prepare for recording once the |Rec| button has been pressed.
• In order to ensure that the final images are recorded properly, wait at least 10 seconds before pressing the |Stop| button.
7 Stop the recording by pressing the |Stop| button.
8 Press the |Finalize| button to close the recording session.
N O T E The CD must be finalized before it can be played back in a device other than the VCDR.

Tips
Pre-formatted discs It is recommended to always have some pre-formatted discs in stock prior to the examination. This is to avoid wrong selection of the format.
Record after the examination is finished
It is recommended to record the images immediatly after the actual examination is finished.
Avoiding waste of disc space Start and stop recording immediatly before and after the images are displayed on the monitor.

Erase disc tracks
N O T E Only tracks on a CD-RW disc can be erased.
1 On the mobile viewing station console, press the |Video replay| key [25].
2 On the VCDR, use the |Previous| and |Next| buttons to select the track to be erased, as indicated on the VCDR display panel.
3 Press the |Erase| button, confirm the selection by pressing the |Menu/Enter|
button.
Pressing the |Erase| button twice enables the full disc to be erased.
Replay recorded images
1 On the mobile viewing station console, press the |Video replay| key [25].
2 If applicable, switch on the VCDR and insert the desired CD.
3 On the VCDR, press the |Play| button to start the replay of the recorded images from the CD.
Use the |Previous| and |Next| buttons to select the tracks to be viewed. Use the |Pause| button to pause the CD during replay.
View recorded images on a PC or DVD-player
Recorded images can only be viewed on a PC or DVD player once the CD is finalized. Once finalized, no more images can be added to the CD. It is still possible to erase a full CD (CD-RW) after it has been finalized.
N O T E The CD is automatically finalized when the whole CD is filled with images.
1 When no more images need to be recorded on the CD, finalize the CD by pressing the |Finalize| button on the VCDR. The finalize process may take a few moments.
It is now possible to view the recorded images on a PC or DVD player.
