Professional Accreditation 37

Section 4: Program Content 20

4.2 Professional Accreditation 37

The finance program or any of the program’s courses do not require certification, registration, licensing or granting any official recognition a regulatory authority in Ontario. The program is structured to provide theoretical knowledge and application of the concepts that are relevant to the financial services industry and the course material is not dependent on any external institutions.

However the financial services industry is highly regulated and the graduates will need to complete industry licensing courses before they can commence work in many licensed jobs within the financial services. The program content covers most of the subject matter related to some industry licensing and accreditation courses. The requirements of the industry education are very complex and dependent upon the specific field of work, graduates may need to complete some of the following industry licensing courses:

• Investment Funds in Canada (IFIC) • Canadian Securities Course (CSC)

• Conduct and Practices Handbook Course (CPH) • Wealth Management Essentials Course (WME) • Derivatives Fundamentals Course (DFC) • Life License Qualification Program (LLQP) • Certified Financial Planner (CFP)

• Chartered Financial Analyst CFA)

Several industry associations have provided letters of support for the program (see Section 7.3).
