Program Request - Abbreviated Template Utah State University
MS Health & Human Movement, Health Education Specialization, Plan B Option 09/01/2012
Section I: Request
The Department of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation at Utah State University proposes a new Plan B option within the Health Education specialization of the Master of Science in Health and Human Movement degree with student admissions to start for Summer Semester 2013. The new degree program will meet the needs of students who wish to pursue a degree that will not require a traditional thesis project. The current MS in Health and Human Movement Health Education specialization also offers a Plan A thesis option.
Section II: Need
Students enrolled in this specialization may only need to complete a thesis project if they are intending to pursue research opportunities or perhaps doctoral studies. Otherwise the project as described by the School of Graduate Studies to fulfill the requirement for the Plan B may be quite appropriate for students seeking alternate professional opportunities.
Section III: Institutional Impact
As with the current MS in Health and Human Movement Health Education specialization Plan A thesis option, the same institutional resources will be sufficient to support the proposed option.
Section IV: Finances
This proposed option will not place any additional financial impact on the institution.
