Enhanced protection for HSBC Mobile Banking and Personal Internet Banking from HSBC with your Online Security Device

Designed in an elegant and compact manner, the Security Device is portable and easy to use.

So, access, view and manage your money anytime, anywhere, without having to worry about the security of your account.

Getting ready for your Security Device

Enhanced security for online banking is just a few steps away. To activate your Security Device, after you have set-up your device PIN, please follow the steps listed herein:

1. Log on to Personal Internet Banking from HSBC and click the ‘Activate Now’ button.

2. Enter 10-digit serial number that can be found on the back panel of your device.

3. Generate and input the authentication security code using your Security Device.

Security Device can be used for both HSBC Mobile Banking and Personal Internet Banking from HSBC. Visit www.hsbc.co.in/security-device for a demo of Security Device activation.

1. Turning on the device

• Press and hold for 2 seconds to turn on the device.

2. Setting up your PIN for the first time

Your Security Device is PIN protected. The PIN length should be 4-6 digits, however a 6-digit PIN ensures more safety. You will be asked to create the first PIN when you turn on the device for the first time.

Turn on your device. Press to complete

Create your new PIN the first PIN entry.

(4-6 digits) using the

numeric keypad.

Re-enter your PIN (4-6 digits) to confirm your new PIN.

If you have successfully confirmed the new PIN, you will see ‘NEW PIN’ confirmation text as shown below.

You get a PIN confirmed notification.

If PINs do not match, the message ‘FAIL PIN’ will be displayed.

If PIN is weak, the message ‘NEW PIN not SAFE’ will be displayed and request New PIN process starts again.

3. Generate the security code for ‘log on and authentication’

• Log on to Personal Internet Banking from HSBC

• Turn on your device and enter your PIN number using the

keypad

• Press again to generate a security code

4. Generate the ‘Transaction Signing Code’

‘Transaction Signing Code’ is required when you are about to transfer funds to Third Party Beneficiary account. Follow these three simple steps to generate a ‘Transaction Signing Code’.

Press on your Security Device, until you see

Enter the last 8-digit of the ‘Beneficiary account number’ into the device. (Use to delete input)

Press and your 6-digit ‘Transaction Signing Code’ will appear

for input to your computer.

When you have completed the above steps, verify your transaction details, then proceed to the next stage.

5. Changing the PIN for the device

To reset your PIN for the Security Device:

1. After your device is turned on and unlocked using your existing PIN, you will see the Welcome screen; press and hold the button ‘8’ for 2 seconds to activate the change PIN function.

2. Then repeat the PIN set process (follow steps 1 and 2 from setting up your PIN for the first time).

Press and hold button ‘8’ for 2 seconds

to enter the change PIN function.

Enter new PIN using keypad.

Press to complete.

Press to backspace one character.

Press and hold to clear all input.

Confirm the new PIN by re-entering it.

The icon ‘NEW PIN CONF’ will be displayed for 2 seconds if the PIN is successfully matched between the two input screens.
