4.2 Hardware Architecture

4.2.3 Shelves

Shelf is an empty box in which different cards are plugged-in. ZXMSG 5200 has one main and four expansion shelves. Both the main shelf and slave shelves use the same shelf type based on the selection of cabinet, access type and power redundancy requirement. ZXMSG 5200 has the following shelf types:

• Standard shelves

− Single power rear access standard shelf (6U)

− Dual power rear access standard shelf (6U)

− Dual power front access standard shelf (9U)

• ONU100 mini shelf

• OUT50F shelf

• OUT50C mini shelf

• OUT50D mini shelf

Among the standard shelves, rear access shelf can be installed in indoor cabinet 19D06H20, 1500E and outdoor cabinet OUT40E, OUT20E. And front access shelf can be installed in indoor cabinet 19D06H20, 1500E and outdoor cabinet OUT40E, OUT60, OUT20E. ONU100 mini shelf is especially is ONU100 cabinet, and OUT50F/C/D mini shelf is especially for OUT50F/C/D.

4.2.3.1 Single Power Rear Access Standard Shelf

Single power rear access standard shelf offers 17 effective slots for holding major boards such as POWER H board, user interface boards, control switching board ICS, VoIP processing board MPRB, and test board TSLC. The POWER H can work together with the POWER H in another unit in the same rack/cabinet to make inter-layer power backup.

It uses MICS backplane. Shelf dimensions are 266.5 mm * 482.6 mm * 318.5 mm (Height * Width * Depth).

Figure 5 shows the shelf structure of control unit and Figure 6 shows shelf structure of user unit.

4.2.3.2 Dual Power Rear Access Standard Shelf

Dual power rear access standard shelf offers 16 effective slots for holding major boards such as POWER K board, user interface boards, control switching board ICS, VoIP processing board MPRB, and test board TSLC. The two POWER Ks can work as redundancy.

Figure 7 shows the shelf structure. Dual power rear access standard shelf has two POWER K cards; one is used for hot backup. It uses MBSL backplane. Shelf dimensions are 266.5 mm * 482 mm * 318.5 mm (Height * Width * Depth).

4.2.3.3 Dual Power Front Access Standard Shelf

Dual power front access stand shelf adds area of cable and correspondence front access extending boards compared to the dual power rear access standard shelf.

Figure 8 shows the shelf structure. Shelf dimensions are 399.8 mm * 482 mm * 318.5 mm (Height * Width * Depth).

4.2.3.4 ONU100 Mini Shelf

The ONU100 small-capacity control unit of the ZXMSG 5200 adopts a single-shelf solution. It has four LC board slots, one TSLC board slot, one ICS board slot, and one MPRB board slot. It can provide 32 x 4 channels of analog users and 32 x 4 channels of xDSL users. Analog user boards and digital user boards can be inserted in the four slots in an intermixing way. The IST board can be inserted into slot LC4. The board arrangement of the user unit is shown in Figure 9.

4.2.3.5 OUT50F Shelf

OUT50F shelf has 2 layers as shown in Figure 10. Among it PPC is primary power processing card while PWRK is secondary power processing card. OUT50F shelf contains 10 subscriber line cards.

Shelf dimensions are 1100 mm * 700 mm * 400 mm (Height * Width * Depth).

4.2.3.6 OUT50C Mini Shelf

OUT50C shelf has 2 layers and total 20 slots. Shelf dimensions are 663 mm * 333 mm * 355 mm (Height * Width * Depth).

Figure 11 shows the OUT50C shelf configuration. OUT50C is dual power card version.

4.2.3.7 OUT50D Mini Shelf

OUT50D shelf has two layers and total 16 slots. Shelf dimensions are 663 mm * 323 mm

* 355 mm (Height * Width * Depth).

Figure 12 shows the OUT50D shelf configuration. OUT50D is single power card version.
