Slider (Scale) Question
Description
You can now add a “Slider (Scale)” question to your survey. This new question type enables you to render scale questions as sliders. Your slider question can appear as text and image or text only.
Inserting the Question into Your Survey
A new question type is available in the Insert Item dialog on the Questions tab. See image below.
“Slider (Scale)” question type
The “Slider (Scale)” question is a rendering of “Matrix” with the “Choose One” type. You can add one or more topics and tie images to topics, if required. Each topic displays as an individual slider with the same choices across all topics. You can insert choices manually or by a library scale.

Note: You must enter text for each topic. You will have the option of adding an image to each topic.
The “Slider (Scale)” question type is available in the Step-by-Step questionnaire designer only. A placeholder for this question will appear in the Free Form Word Processor, but deleting the placeholder will delete the question.

Topic text displays to the left of the slider. Images are to the left of the slider with
corresponding text above. The slider is anchored on the left with a default of N/A; choices you insert into the question follow along the slider. You can change the N/A label using the Questionnaire > Validation Messages and Labels option in the Questionnaire
Designer. You can also leave it blank.
Note: Do not rename the N/A label as an answer to the question, for example,
“Often” or “Rarely.” This item is a way for respondents to not answer any of the given choices for the question; the value associated with N/A is always zero.
All choices appear across the bottom of the scale with a tick mark representing where the answer is registered. If you drag the slider to a point between the ticks, the slider moves to the nearest option. The selected choice appears bold and indicates your answer.
There are several ways to answer the “Slider (Scale)” question.
• Drag the slider to the required choice.
• Click the choice name. The slider will move to the selected position.
• Select the slider and move it by using the arrow keys on your keyboard.
