Make yourself a cuddly Minecraft chicken by cutting out two cardboard rings,

holding them together, and winding white yarn round and round them until the hole is filled. Carefully cut around the outside, separate

the two rings, and tie a piece of white yarn around the bundle of threads before removing

the rings - this will make a pom-pom. Make a second, smaller pom-pom by using a smaller ring. Glue or sew the pom-poms together

to form a body and head, then glue on felt decorations to give your

chick a face and legs.

Clucky you!

STEP 5

Attach pieces of double-sided sticky tape to the reverse side of each pane, and then carefully stick it to your flowerpot, lining it up with the pot’s bottom edge. Start off with the small flap, so that it can be covered by the final pane. Press the foam firmly into place.

STEP 4

Turn the foam back over so that it’s sat decoration-side down, and fold along your scored lines. Make sure you’re folding them so that the decoration sits on the outside!

STEP 6

Repeat steps 1-4 using green foam, but this time make the panes just a few centimetres tall. As well as decorating the outside with green felt-tip pens, you can also cut small notches along the bottom to make it look more authentic. Attach the green foam along the top edge of your pot, again using double-sided tape.

STEP 7

If you’re using seeds, it’s time to fill your pot with earth and then plant and water your seeds - in a week or two, it’ll be full of the joys of spring! If, like us, you’re a bit more impatient, pop your plant back into the pot, and trim its stalks so that they’re just peeping over the top.

Hey, presto: instant grass!

2 BUNNY BUNTING

Celebrate Easter in the style of Minecraft Update 0.13.0! Honestly, it’s more exciting than we’ve made that sound. These cheery rabbits are perfect for hanging up to celebrate spring, even if stringing the poor blighters up does seem rather cruel. Just promise us you won’t do it with real rabbits, okay?

It’s a bright, simple project that makes the most of those crisp Minecraft designs.

Just look at their little faces!

MATERIALS

Brown, black and white foam or card (we used foam); felt-tip pens and gel pens; ribbon;

scissors; hole punch; pen; scrap paper

STEP 1

Using a piece of scrap paper, sketch out a template for your bunny heads. Don’t worry if it takes you a few goes - just get something you’re happy with. Once you’ve got it how you want it, cut it out. Mind those ears! Your bunny is just a square without them...

STEP 2

Lay your template on top of each piece of foam/card in turn, and carefully draw around it.

Try to stick to the lines as best as possible! You’ll need to draw around and then cut out two rabbit heads from each colour foam/card.

STEP 3

Once you’ve cut out your six rabbit pieces, use your felt-tips and gel pens to colour in their features. You’ll probably need to use the gel pens on the black, as the felt-tip ink likely won’t show up on such a dark colour. There are tons of different rabbit designs in Minecraft, so how you decorate these is entirely up to you!

STEP 5

Thread your ribbon through each hole.

If your ribbon is only patterned or textured on one side, make sure you keep the ribbon from twisting, so that the pattern stays facing forward. Space your rabbits out evenly along the ribbon, and your bunting is ready to hang!

STEP 4

When each rabbit has an adorable/terrifyingly feral little face, make a hole at the top of each one’s ears (don’t worry; they won’t feel a thing). You can use a hole punch for this if you’ve made them out of card, but if you’re using foam then the pieces might not fit into your hole punch. If that’s the case, just (carefully!) use the point of your scissors to make the holes.

3 SPAWN EGGS

In the game, spawn eggs let you make any mob magically appear in creative mode. We can’t promise the same thing will happen here - although that’s probably for the best if you don’t want an enderman to scamper off with your precious Easter haul - but they still provide the perfect, Minecraft-themed way to make your home feel fabulously springtastic. There’s also 27 types of spawn egg, so you can go completely mad with it. Have fun!

MATERIALS

Eggs; large saucepan; poster paints; brushes; plate; cling film.

That’s it!

STEP 1

Put your eggs in a large saucepan, cover them with hot water from the kettle and boil them on the stove for around 12 minutes. If necessary, ask an adult for help! After 12 minutes, (very!) carefully fish your now hard-boiled eggs out of the saucepan and let them cool completely.

You can speed this up a bit by popping them in a bowl of cold water.

STEP 2

When your eggs have cooled completely, it’s time to start painting them. If you don’t have a paint palette, you can make your own by covering a plate with a couple of layers of cling film, to give you a nice, smooth (and wipe-clean) surface on which to mix up your colours.
