4.2 Server list
4.2.8 Storage subsystems in the server list
The storage subsystems are indicated in the server list by the storage subsystems icon.
Figure 32: Storage subsystems in the server list
We distinguish between the following storage subsystems:
● For the following storage subsystems you receive further information in the SV - Storage window of ServerView Operations Manager:
– FibreCAT SX60/80/88/100 – FibreCAT SX80 iSCSI – All FibreCAT CX models – ETERNUS DX60/DX80/DX90
– ETERNUS DX60-S2/DX80-S2/DX90-S2 – ETERNUS DX400/DX8000 family – ETERNUS DX400-S2
– ETERNUS DX100-S3/DX200-S3/DX500-S3/DX600-S3
I
The FibreCAT CX storage subsystems correspond to the CLARiiON CX storage subsystems of EMC2 Corporation. However, for the sake of simplicity only the term FibreCAT CX is used in this manual.● For the following storage subsystems you receive further information via the Web interface of the storage subsystem:
– FibreCAT TX – CentricStor FS – NetApp
– ETERNUS CS800
FibreCAT SX 60/80/88/100 / FibreCAT SX80 iSCSI / FibreCAT CX models/
ETERNUS DX60/80/90/400/8000 / DX60-S2/DX80-S2/DX90-S2/DX400-S2/
DX100-S3/DX200-S3/DX500-S3/DX600-S3
With these FibreCAT and ETERNUS storage subsystems, the ServerView Storage Manager (StorMan) software delivers the necessary information to ServerView Operations Manager so that it can be displayed within ServerView Operations Manager.
If you click a storage subsystem of this type in the server list, information on this storage subsystem is displayed in the SV - Storage window (see chapter
"Querying storage subsystem data" on page 293).
The storage subsystems can only be managed in ServerView Operations Manager if the following requirements are met:
● ServerView Storage Manager (StorMan) must be installed on the same management station as the ServerView Operations Manager.
● The ServerView Storage Manager (StorMan) service StorMan Service (Windows) or storman (Linux) must be started.
● An SMI-S provider must be installed (SMI-S - Storage Management Initiative Specification).
– The FibreCAT SX60/80/88/100 models and ETERNUS
DX60/DX80/DX90/DX60-S2/DX80-S2/DX90-S2/DX400-S2/DX100-S3/DX200-S3/DX500-S3/DX600-S3 come with their own SMI-S provider. In this case, no additional action is necessary. The ETERNUS DX60-S2/DX80-S2/DX90-S2/DX400-S2 models are supported as of StorMan V4.0. The ETERNUS DX100-S3/DX200-S3/DX500-S3/DX600-S3 models are supported as of StorMan V5.0.0.8.
– The FibreCAT CX models and the ETERNUS DX400/DX8000 models do not come with an SMI-S provider. With the FibreCAT CX models you need an EMC CIMServer/SMI-S provider V4.1, and with the ETERNUS DX400/DX8000 models you need a Fujitsu ETERNUS SMI-S provider V2.0.1 or higher.
For the necessary software requirements, please see the StorMan documentation.
I
For the EMC CIMServer/SMI-S provider as of version 4.1 and the Fujitsu ETERNUS SMI-S Provider as of version 2.0 you need a user name which you must specify when configuring the storage subsystem (see below).● The storage subsystem must be appropriately configured.
– With the FibreCAT SX60/80/88/100 models and ETERNUS DX60/DX80/DX90/DX60-S2/DX80-S2/DX90-S2/DX400-S2/DX100-S3/DX200-S3/DX500-S3/DX600-S3, the configuration occurs
automatically when the object is added to the server list (see also section
"Defining and adding objects" on page 156).
I
The ETERNUS DX60/DX80/DX90/DX60-S2/DX80-S2/DX90-S2/DX400-S2/DX100-S3/DX200-S3/DX500-S3/DX600-S3 SMI-S functions require a valid user/password combination. This combination must be stored in the user/password list before an ETERNUS DX60/DX80/DX90/DX60-S2/DX80-S2/DX90-S2/DX400-S2/DX100-S3/DX200-S3/DX500-S3/DX600-S3 storage subsystem is added to the ServerView server list (chapter"Creating a user/password list" on page 331).
If there are problems with the configuration, you should execute the following ServerView Storage Manager (StorMan) configuration command:
storcfg cimom -add -ip <IP address of the storage system> -cimuser
<user> -cimpwd <password>
If the user/password changes, you must execute the following StorMan configuration command:
storcfg cimom mod ip <ipaddress of the storage system> -newuser <user> -newpwd <password>
– With the FibreCAT CX models and the ETERNUS DX400/DX8000 models, you must do the configuration yourself after installing the SMI-S provider. You will need the following ServerView Storage Manager (StorMan) configuration commands:
storcfg cimom -add -ip <IP_address>
Replace IP_address with the IP address of the server on which the SMI-S provider is installed.
For the EMC CIMServer/SMI-S provider and the Fujitsu ETERNUS SMI-S Provider, you need a user name which you must specify when configuring the storage subsystem:
storcfg cimom -add -ip <IP address of the server with the installed SMI-S provider> -cimuser <user> -cimpwd <password>
If the user/password changes, you must execute the following StorMan configuration command:
storcfg cimom -mod -ip <IP address of the server with the installed SMI-S provider> -newuser <user> -newpwd <password>
I
Software requirementsThe following table shows as of which StorMan version the individual storage subsystems are supported.
Storage subsystems StorMan Version

Additional documentationFor the FibreCAT storage subsystems the Welcome Guides "Monitoring FibreCAT CX systems with ServerView Operations Manager" and
"Monitoring FibreCAT SX systems with ServerView Operations Manager" are available.
For the storage subsystems ETERNUS DX60/DX80 there is also a Quick Start Guide available.
For more information on StorMan, please see the ServerView Storage Manager documentation or the supplied Readme file.
