STUDENT SERVICES COMMITTEE 2014-2015 PURPOSE STATEMENT
The purpose of the Student Services Committee (SSC) is to review and update District policies and procedures related to students. Additionally SSC reviews the programs and activities of all Student Services divisions including; Admissions, Bookstore Services, Campus Safety, Counseling &
Advisement, DSP&S, EOP&S/CARE and CalWORKs, Financial Aid, Food Services, International Student Center, School Relations and Outreach, Student Affairs, Student Health Center, Student Life and Leadership Development, Student Success and Support Program (SSSP), Transfer Center and Veterans Success Center.
RESPONSIBILITIES FOR 2014-2015:
• To coordinate the selection of students for achievement awards.
• To review accreditation standards related to student services and respond to recommendations from visiting accreditation teams.
• To encourage greater student participation in campus governance through cooperation with faculty.
• To forward recommendations for the academic calendar to the Steering Committee and monitor any legislative changes that would affect holidays.
• In conjunction with the Institutional Research and Planning Committee, identify campus research projects on student outcomes.
• To monitor campus progress on student success, student equity and Student Success and Support Program (SSSP).
• To keep student services policies and procedures up to date.
• To improve the utilization of technology to increase efficiency and services to students.
• To review student services progress on student learning outcomes and assessment.
FREQUENCY OF MEETINGS:
