5.3 RECOMMENDATIONS AND SUGGESTIONS FOR FURTHER

5.3.2 Suggestions for Further Research

i) Bioassays should be carried out to establish the efficacy of bark extracts from domesticated P. africana.

ii) Research to be carried out to establish effects of soils, temperature and intra- species variation on phytochemical profiles and yields.

iii) X-ray crystallography to be done to get the identity of the two unknown compounds in methanol and aqueous extracts of the P. africana bark extracts which could be identified by mass spectrometry.

iv) Phytochemical analysis of P. africana stem bark extracts of younger trees should be carried out and their efficacy established.
