(79.2 percent) than men (73,1 percent) needed the help of
another person. In each age group, a higher proportion was
found for people who lived with someone other than a spouse
than for those who lived alone or with a spouse (table L). For
people 65-74 years of age, the ratio of those needing the help
of another person to those needing functional assistance was
higher in the Northeast and South Regions than in the North
Central and West Regions (table N).
