3. You will need to use the ladder to get off the bunk bed. When you’re ready, climb down instead of jumping. If you jump, you might fall and hit your head or land on your backside. It would hurt a lot.

4. We had a load of wood delivered for the fireplace. It’s outside near the gate. You know, hard wood isn’t easy to find. I’m glad we have enough to last for the winter.

5. Wait! Did you read all of the directions for the game? Do not deal any of the red cards yet. You should take them out of the deck before you begin. Then, you may start.

6. Do you still need a ride to the doctor’s office on Friday? Dave has the whole day off.

He said he would be glad to take you. Give him a call.

7. Our puppy dog loves to dig in the backyard. He always buries his bones under the tree. Once he dug up Mom’s daffodils. She called him a bad dog, but she still likes him.

8. Help me clean the den. Everything in here is dirty. Even the radio is dusty. The windows are dirty, too. There are dishes on the table with food on them. We’d better get this cleaned up before anyone sees it. It’s a real mess!

9. I don’t know how to dance. I’m afraid I’ll look dumb if I try. Everybody else looks good on the dance floor. I’d rather just watch. Maybe some day I’ll be ready to try, but not yet!

3. What is a good name for a boy? I like Ben. It is short. Ned is nice, too. Aaron sounds good, but there is no nickname for it. It’s so hard to choose. There are many good choices.

4. Aren’t a chicken and a hen the same animal? Why is it called a henhouse, but a chicken coop? I’ve never heard it called a chicken house or a hen coop. This seems very weird to me!

5. Have you ever been to North Dakota? It must be very cold in the winter. I imagine it is lonesome to live in the country, but it would be great to look out your window at the beautiful scenery.

6. John is quite nervous. He is going to buy a new car. He has never done this before.

He has saved enough money for a small car, but nothing too fancy. He knows he must shop carefully. He hopes he will get a good deal.

7. Ron looks nervous. He is getting ready to run the marathon. He has been waiting for this race all year. He has trained for many hours. His goal is to make it across the finish line. Good luck, Ron!

8. My plane leaves in just two hours. I’ll never be ready on time. The taxi will be here any minute. I should have gotten up sooner than I did. The next time I take a trip, I’ll get up much earlier.

9. It rained all night. There was so much loud thunder and bright lightning that I could not go to sleep. I tried putting my head under my pillow, but that did not help.

1. I think I left my lunch box on the bus. I had it when I left school. I remember laying it down on the seat next to me. When Alice sat down beside me, I think it fell off the seat. Tomorrow I will look on the bus and in the lost and found box in the office. I hope it is there.

2. We’re having salad for lunch. There is lettuce and celery in the bag. Look in the refrigerator for some tomatoes. What kind of dressing do you like? I usually put olive oil on mine. You may have something else.

3. There is a ball at the palace tonight. Cinderella and her lovely sisters are invited.

I hope they take their shoes home when they leave. The last time they were here, one of them left a shoe. It caused a lot of trouble the next day!

4. Did you call the library to find out how late they are open? I still have ten pages to write on my report on London. I lost those pages in the computer when the electricity went off last night. Now, I have to start all over. I’m afraid I will never finish on time.

5. You really look silly in that coat. Why did you buy a curly, wool coat? I think it makes you look like a lamb, a fuzzy caterpillar or maybe an old sheepdog.

6. Look at the calendar. Turn to July and see when the carnival will be here. It always comes near the middle of July. Last year, it was on July fifteenth. Remember how much fun we had!

7. I love Valentine’s Day. It is one of my favorite holidays. I like to make my own Valentine cards with lots of red hearts and lace. Sometimes I leave my name off the card and let the person guess who it is from. The person usually knows it is from me.

8. I get too many telephone calls. Someone is always trying to sell me something. I try to be polite, but I don’t like to be bothered, especially during dinner. Sometimes I leave the phone off the hook, but then it starts buzzing loudly.

9. I like going to the lake. There are a million fun things to do there. In the morning we go sailing across the lake on our sailboat. In the afternoon, we sit on the lawn and sip lemonade. At night we catch lightning bugs. I can hardly wait to go back!

I love to watch a baby bird learning to fly. It flutters and flaps its fluffy little wings and flops all around. Finally, it flaps its wings hard and it flies. Soon the bird joins the rest of the flock of birds as they fly through the sky, floating on air.

I always wear sunglasses outside, especially when there is a glare. Even on gloomy days, it’s a good idea to wear sunglasses. Last week it snowed. I was glad I had my warm gloves. I put on my sunglasses because the glare from the sun on the white snow made it hard to see. My sunglasses made me look glamorous!

Today our class cleaned up the playground. We wore old clothing. Our teacher brought some cloths and cleaning supplies. Some of us cleaned the equipment while others cleared away clumps of weeds. We worked hard for a long time. When we were done, everyone in the class clapped. We were proud of ourselves!

Will you please take me to the playground? It’s my favorite place to go. We can play on the swings. I like to climb on the toy airplane. I pretend I am a famous explorer flying in a jet plane. Let’s go now so we have plenty of time to play. I can’t think of anyplace I’d rather be!

The wind is blowing hard today. It blew the clothes off the line. They flew across the yard and landed in the flowerbed. The wind was so strong, a little sapling bent and snapped. The children’s playhouse flipped over in the strong wind. A lawn chair blew into the patio door, but the glass didn’t break.

It is a glorious day today. The sun is glistening on the ice. Look at it glitter and glow.

I’m glad we’re outside even though it is cold. We can glide down the snow on our sleds.

Or maybe we can build an igloo out of ice blocks. It’s fun to play outside on a winter day!
