THE BEST BETS HORSE RACING SELECTION SYSTEM

It is an undisputed fact that favorites win a large proportion of all races each and every season. Indeed, placing a level stake on every favourite at day's principal meeting throughout the entire 2002 Flat campaign actually generated a profit! Although you can't always expect to stay in front by betting so indiscriminately, it does serve to illustrate the potential and scope that this area of speculation has to offer.

Of course, not all favorites are the same - some have a much greater chance of success than others. Following market leaders in certain circumstances, for instance, is almost tantamount to throwing money down the drain. The key is to be selective. Using information gleaned from results stretching back over many seasons, the system's objective is to highlight the most opportune moment when to get involved.

As the majority of punters already know, favorites have a consistently good record at certain racecourses but at others the win rate is much poorer. But this phenomenon does not stop here. By delving deeper it can be seen that specific distances are more preferable than others, especially at various times of the season. This knowledge by itself is significant but when combined with other factors which insure only horses with proven winning credentials are pinpointed, and then we have a formidable ally on our side.

RULES

Operations commence an April 1st and conclude the last day of October each year. Only Flat racing is covered here.

Each day consult the "Key Race Table" as given below, and check to see if there is a meeting taking place which is listed under the relevant current month. Example, if we were presently in July, only refers to meetings listed under that month - no other venues need be considered until the next month arrives.

There will be occasions when nothing is forthcoming but it won't be to long before a listed racecourse is spotted. Once you have done so the next step is to examine the figures printed alongside the name of this meeting in the table. These figures represent the various distances you need to watch for.

Therefore if the meeting under review is due to stage a race (or races) over the same distance, odd yards either way are ignored - as indicated by the relevant table entry, this event (or events) now become known as a "Key Race".

Once a Key Race has been correctly identified, the favourite of this contest qualifies as a selection provided the following stipulations are met, otherwise the race is overlooked.

The first requirement is that the favourite in question must have won its last race of the current season. The second condition is that the favourite must not only have won on its most recent outing, but must also have finished at least three lengths ahead of the horse which was placed second. If it failed to record a winning margin of 3 lengths or more - no bet. However, a Key Race favourite which meets both requirements automatically qualifies as a system selection.

The best method of determining the actual favourite in advance is to have access to the betting market just before the off. This either means being present in the bookmakers or by telephoning or being on the internet at the appropriate time.

Not everybody will find these options convenient, in which case it is recommended that the betting forecast printed in your newspaper be used instead. Naturally the horse quoted first in the forecast is the favourite to consider. The sporting newspapers seem to be more accurate with their forecasts than the regular dailies, so it's worthwhile consulting the specialist press if possible.

There will be occasions in Key Races when more than one runner ties as market leader. A joint favourite is allowed to qualify provided the other horses in the race which share the same odds do not also qualify - no bet if otherwise.

ACTUAL EXAMPLE FROM OCTOBER 2003

On this particular day three Flat meeting were due to be staged - Folkestone, Redcar and Warwick. A quick glance at the meetings listed in the Key Race Table for October, soon revealed that Redcar was the only track which warranted further investigation.

The figures printed immediately after Redcar's name told us to look out for any races run over a distance of 1 mile or over a trip of 1¾ miles. After scanning through the complete card it was noticed that the 3.15 qualified as a suitable Key Race because it was being run over 1¾ miles.

As the favourite of the 3.15 happened to won last time out (current season) by a margin of four lengths, it duly qualified as a selection - IT WON @ 7-4. So as you can see from this example the system is very simple to operate, requiring just a few minutes daily to establish if there's a qualifier or not. Be patient and realise there won't be betting opportunities every single day of the week. But judging from past results, selections are certainly well worth waiting for!

EXTRA RULES COVERING NATIONAL HUNT RACING

Although this system was primarily intended for Flat racing only, a number of clients have requested if the jumps could be covered as well. In order to satisfy these demands, additional Key Races are given below which specifically deal with the winter game.

Rules remain exactly the same as before, except that candidates must be the ONLY HORSE in the Key Race to have won last time out during the current season.

Also candidates must have won their previous contest by a margin of 5 lengths or more, no bet if otherwise.

Operations begin on December 1st and end on the last day of March.

50 HOW TO LEGALLY BACK WINNING HORSES AND DOGS AFTER THE RESULT IS KNOWN!

Silver Lily AS 1400 Golden Lily AS 1700 £1 WIN both selections D-S-A ____________________________

--- Stake:

£2 : p ---

Deer Punter, The above perfectly legal wager is the one that ALL bookmakers dislike layying. It's a very punter friendly wager and always only

grudgingly accepted, because fortunately for us, bookmaking in The UK is very competitive.

After GOLDEN LILY has won, the bookie is allowing an additonal £2 of winnings to revert onto SILVER LlLY, which has already won almost three hours previously. Stumble upon two winners and the bookie is generously granting a £6 wager for a £2 stake. My advice is to change betting shops after a pair of nice priced winners - and ditto after the next pair!

DOUBLE-STAKES-ABOUT (D-S-A) wagers, will alas only cover two selections but can be used on all anti-post bets, often with months between actual races

- hows that then?

With all multiple bets (Yankees, Heinzs, Canadians etc) winnings travel

"only" forward. You may believe that when you eventually stumble upon four winning Favs in a Yankee, that winnings from the third and fourth selection have re-verted onto selections one end two - but this is "not" so.

Many shrewd punters sit in a betting shop and do race-by-race win Yankees or Place Only (TOTE) Yankees. This enables them to take a board price about selections 2, 3, and 4 in a win Yankee etc. Race-by-race win and Place-Only mult-iple wagers, would be impossible to do, if winnings or stakes were to reverse.

No UK bookmaker will accept a place-only Multiple wager, yet most will accept 8 "place only" Single, at Tote odds. Why not sit in a betting shop and do a "place only", Three Doubles and a Treble? Simp1y place three points on the first selection and reserve one-point for selection two end write

"place only" on both wagers. If selection-one is placed, place the total return (plus the set-aside one-point), onto selection-two; DEDUCT1NG one-third of one's return, for I and 3 place double. If selection two is placed, remove the place-double (I and 2) and place everything onto selection-three.

If selection-three is placed, the return will yield two

one-point place doubles and a one-point treble. When selection-two is unplaced, remember to put on the 1 and 3 place-double.

There is no way whatsoever you can sit in a betting shop and do a

race-by-race D-S-A wager. You can sit there for ever, without improving it.

One of the main reasons that bookies rarely go bust (or ride push bikes!), is the sad fact that most punters do not know how to lay their money out in the most effective way. Almost all wagers can be re-written more

punter-friendly, with no additional outlay. My page one example wager cannot be improved upon, and if adhered to religiously, your local bookie will soon be requesting you to take your business elsewhere!

D-S-A wagers can't be successfully "hedged". The Big Three bookmakers will not accept a D-S-A from a fellow bookie. All three will accept them from shop or credit punters, but only for nominal stakes.

Once they have taken the example wager on page-one, all any manager can do, hedging-wise, is this:

£1 win double S.L. and G.L. - if lose S.L. then £1 w G.L. £2 staked. This is fine if both win and it's OK if S.L. loses and G.L. wins, BUT, if S.L.

wins at say 14/1 and G.L. loses, then the shop have lost almost £12

attempting to win £2. Add a few noughts and you can easily see how they can fall into the brown 'n smelly!

If the D-S-A doesn't improve your punting-winnings, then your method of selection requires abandoning and not the wager.

Most horse winners are in the 3/1 to 14/I price-band and I suggest you restrict your selections to this price-range. Some horses at 10/1 have wonderful chances of winning, but a greyhound at this price has little chance of winning and should be avoided. Don't consider dogs priced over 6/1 or horses over 6/1 in small fields (3-6 runners). Finally, always

remember it is "only" D-S-A users, that can manipulate 2 points onto the winner of the first-race, five minutes after the winner of the final-race of the day has weighed-in.

Please give the D-S-A wager a long and fair trial. It's the sole reason I've made the horses pay for the past five decades.

My most successful, profitable approach is to select five horses (never dogs) and to do any pair (10). Thus: "any pair (10), 1pt win both selections. D-S-A. A line is drawn under the instructions and 20pts are entered into the "stake box" (choose your own stakes).

In the event of three 4/1 winners (from five), not impossible, the pre-tax return is 96pts. This is almost 4/1 to your outlay (96/100ths of 4/1) for being only 3/5ths correct. This is far easier than "banking" on one of the five and sploshing on 20pts - and praying!

The 96pts are arrived at thus:

6 x 1pt singles at 4/1 = 30pts.

6 x 2pt singles at 4/1 (less 2pts each single) = 48pts.

6 x 1pt singles (all three winners x both losers) less 2pts each single = 18pts.

A 7/1 winner and four losers yields a pre-tax 24pts (8pts, less 2pts, x 4).

Four or five decent priced winners and you'll require a barrow - and a change of shops! This is a perfectly legal wager and most betting shops now use automatic calculating machines. Whereby the S.P. stake and wager are fed in to the machine and at the press of a button, the machine settles the

wager - tax paid or unpaid.

ATTENTION!!!

• Firstly choose a system you feel comfortable using.

• Try a few paper bets (non cash bets at home) to see how the system works and to get a good feel for the system.

• If it works for you MAKE SOME SERIOUS MONEY!!!
