ThinkPad Tablet options

Your tablet might come with a ThinkPad Tablet Keyboard Folio Case or a ThinkPad Tablet Dock. If your tablet does not come with one, you can purchase one from Lenovo at http://www.lenovo.com/accessories/services/index.html.

The ThinkPad Tablet Keyboard Folio Case and the ThinkPad Tablet Dock are option devices that Lenovo designed specifically for the ThinkPad Tablet. These options provide convenience and make your tablet easier to use for work, study, and entertainment.

ThinkPad Tablet Keyboard Folio Case

The keyboard folio case is not only a book-like cover with a ThinkPad keyboard. It also is a foldable stand that holds your tablet in an upright position and provides a typing experience similar to a notebook computer.

Works as a USB keyboard with Optical TrackPoint and hot keys.

2 4 Optical TrackPoint

The Optical TrackPoint is a cursor-positioning device that enables to you to point, select, and drag without moving your fingers from a typing position.

For more information, see “Using the ThinkPad Tablet Keyboard Folio Case” on page 56.

3 Hot keys

The hot keys on the keyboard folio case enable you to control many features of your tablet by pressing a single key. Refer to “Using the ThinkPad Tablet Keyboard Folio Case” on page 56 for more information.

ThinkPad Tablet Dock

The ThinkPad Tablet Dock holds your tablet in an upright position and frees your hands to do other tasks. It also provides you easy access to connectors for USB devices, file transfers, charging, audio input, audio output, and video output.

This connector establishes the connection between the dock and tablet when your tablet is seated in the dock.

2 USB connector

Use to connect USB devices, such as a USB keyboard or USB storage device.

Note: This connector is compatible with the USB 2.0 standard.

Connect a personal computer with the supplied USB cable for data transfer.

2 Headphone connector

Connect a headphone or powered speakers to listen to the audio output.

3 Microphone connector

Connect a microphone to capture sound.

4 Power connector

Use the 65 W ac power adapter shipped with the dock to provide power to the tablet and charge the battery.

Using the ThinkPad Tablet Keyboard Folio Case

1. Open the USB cover on the tablet by sliding it to the left.

2. Align the USB connector on the tablet with the USB connector on the keyboard folio case and slide the tablet downward until the two USB connectors are connected.

3. When the connection is established, the onscreen keyboard is automatically disabled and the keyboard folio case is activated.

Using the hot keys

The keyboard folio case has several hot keys. Press a hot key to quickly control the corresponding function.

To locate the hot keys, refer to “ThinkPad Tablet Keyboard Folio Case” on page 55.

Volume and mute control

• Speaker mute

• Speaker volume down

• Speaker volume up

• Microphone mute Application control

• Open the main Home screen

• Open the menu for the current application

• Launch Google Search Screen control

• Go back to the previous screen

The Optical TrackPoint consists of a pointing sensor 1 on the keyboard and two click buttons 2 3 at the bottom of the keyboard. To move the pointer 4 on the screen, slide your finger tip across the top of the point sensor 1 in the direction in which you want the pointer to move. To select an item or open an application, put the pointer 4 on the desired item and press the left button 3. Press the right button 2 to open the menu for the current application

Using the ThinkPad Tablet Dock

To connect your tablet to the dock, do the following:

1. Position your tablet with the dock connector side downward.

2. Align the dock connector on the tablet with the connector on the dock.

3. Gently slide your tablet into the dock until it is fully seated as shown in the following illustration.

Figure 16. Sitting your tablet on the dock After the tablet is in the dock, you can:

• Use your tablet in an upright position without having to hold the tablet.

• Use the dock to hold your tablet upright when using an external Bluetooth keyboard or USB keyboard.

• Connect the dock to your personal computer with the supplied USB cable to transfer files.

• Connect the dock to a stereo system or speakers using a stereo audio cable to play music.

• Connect the dock to an electrical outlet using the 65 W ac power adapter shipped with the dock to charge the tablet battery.
