SAT professional development seminars on the second Tuesday of the month. Members and invited guests gave presentations on a range of current issues. Approximately 10 of these sessions are held each year.
Attended and contributed to the quarterly DotAG - Intra-Jurisdictional Education Committee.
Attended the Australian Institute of Administrative Law Annual Conference in Canberra.
Attended the ‘Diversity in Modern Society’ seminar and presented a paper on ‘Self-determination for Aboriginal People’ in Darwin.
Attended the 2013 Sir Ronald Wilson Lecture, ‘Recent Developments in the Law Relating to Refugees and Asylum Seekers’, presented by Law Society (WA). Attended the WA Local Government Association Conference, Perth.
Presented at the WA Society of Jewish Jurists and legal professionals Inc. 4th Annual Medico-Legal Conference on ‘Disciplinary proceedings’.
Annual SAT Kunamarri Conference in Mandurah
Attended as coach for the Law Society Young legal professionals Committee Advocacy Weekend in Mandurah, WA.
Participated in the ‘R-Codes 2013’ information and training for sessional members of the Tribunal.
Presented to staff at the Citizens’ Advice Bureau on ‘HR guardianship and administration and mental health proceedings’.
Attended Annual Supreme Court Judges Conference, in Mandurah (WA). Attended COAT ‘Executive Planning Day’ in Sydney.
Presented a paper at the COAT (WA) seminar, ‘Tribunal Challenges: mental capacity issues and unrepresented litigants - A view from the Commercial and Civil Stream of the State Administrative Tribunal’.
Attended a presentation by Dr Marshall Watson on ‘Cultural Influences and Implications with regards to Offending Behaviours in Indigenous Australians’ at SAT. Attended the Griffith University ‘Strata and Community Title Conference’ and participated in the panel on ‘Strata Title Policy Makers Forum’ on 4 Sept 2013. Chaired the Legalwise ‘Evidence for Commercial Litigators’ seminar.
Presented at the LEADR ‘kon gres 2013’, Perth on ‘Mediations involving experts - Incorporating innovations from adjudicative to facilitative dispute resolution’. Presented at the International Bar Association conference in Boston, United States of America on ‘FDR (Facilitative Disputes Resolution) and experts in hot tubs - Innovations from Down Under’.
