In document Introduction to ProphetX 3.0 (Page 32-37)

Q. Can I change Global Preferences for just 1 display?

A. Yes. Right click in the display and select Properties to choose your preferences. These will over-ride the Global Preferences for this display only – all proceeding displays will continue to use the default preferences.

Q. Are there any Global Preferences that I can’t over-ride?

A. Some Global Preferences can only be set on the global level (File/ Preferences). Individual display preferences will list only those that can over-ride the global selections.

Q. I opened a display and wanted it to show as a tab in an existing window. Instead, it opened a separate window.

A. Just click on the tab in the new window and drag it to the tab area of the other window.

Q. I had a split display with a news index at the bottom. I right clicked and detached it but now I want it back in the split window.

A. Once you detach a split display, the only way to get it back into the split format is to re-do the original split display, following the instructions on page 5.

Q. How can I save my workbooks in my network folder?

A. Go to the Files docked toolbar and right-click on your user ID at the top level of the display. Select Attach Folder. Navigate to your network location and select it. Now, when you save, click on the drop-down arrow next to My ProphetX Files in the Save dialog and select that network location.

Q. I detached a window and can’t find it.

A. Check your Windows “Start” Toolbar – it will look like another instance of ProphetX named with the window title. Right click on it and select Restore or Maximize. The window will open and you can either move it to a preferred location or right-click on it to reframe it in your

News

Q. How can I get news that is not listed in the new categories in the docked toolbar?

A. Select New/Search Scrolling News or Fixed News and enter a keyword to search for. You can even search for a specific news page number (if known) or a web page.

Q. What’s the difference between Scrolling News and Fixed News? A. For Scrolling News, every time an update occurs, a new story is

generated and the title scrolls onto the scrolling news index list. With Fixed News, the index has a specific (fixed) set of stories. Updates are made right in the story itself. Fixed News indexes never scroll. Q. How can I e-mail a news story to one of my customers?

A. Either right-click in the story and select Copy, do Ctrl/C, or use the copy button on the toolbar to copy the story. Go to File/Send Email. Address it and send it out.

Quotes

Q. I set my quotes to blink when the last price changes but the entire row blinks. How can I set it to blink just on the price itself?

A. Highlight just the price or the price column, depending on which of those you want to set for blinking. Right click and select Column Properties. Click on the “Blink in Field Mode” checkbox.

Q. Is there a way to show 2 columns of Ticker Symbols on 1 line? A. Yes. First, set up your first set of Tickers and the fields you want to

display. Then, either go to a blank column on the right end, and right click to select Set Column Content. Select Ticker Symbol from the list of available fields. The Ticker and all previously selected columns will replicate. (This will not work if you insert a blank column first. If you want a blank column between the Ticker sets, insert it after setting up all the Tickers.)

Q. I have a list of quote symbols on a spreadsheet. How can I copy these symbols to a Quote Sheet?

A. Highlight the symbols, drag them to the Quote Sheet, and drop them into a Ticker Symbol entry.

Charts

Q. My charts look different than the way I want them to display.

A. Did you set up Chart Preferences before you started? If so, then right click on the chart line/bar itself and select Properties. You save this as a default template to default to these preferences for every chart. Q. My Data Window doesn’t update when I move my Crosshairs across

the page.

A. That’s correct. The Data Window reflects the current prices for today only. As you move from 1 point to another on the chart a pop up window displays the price for that price point.

Q. How can I quickly create another chart with the same symbol and a different interval?

A. Right click and select Duplicate Chart. Click anywhere in the chart and type a comma and the increment shortcut. For example ,3 will change the interval to 3 minutes - ,T will create a Tick chart.

Q. I don’t want to display the entire chart – I would prefer a specific time frame.

A. Right click on the x-axis and select Change Data Range.

Q. I look at instruments that go into a Fast Market – can I show this on my quote sheet?

A. Yes, go to File/Preferences/Colors and Fonts. Change the color for Fast Trades. Then, right click in your quote sheet and select Sheet Properties. Select the Updates tab and check Show Fast Market. Use the same process for highlighting or blinking for trade updates.

Options

Q. I want to display more that just “in and out of the money” for every contract month in an Options window.

A. Just right click in the bottom portion of your ATM display and select Properties and Config. Change the number of strikes to display. Please note: The ATM display does not update automatically. You must manually update it. The Series display does update.

Q. My options display does not update when the underlying price changes. A. Right click in the upper portion of the Series display and select

Properties/IV Update. Select Option or Underlying Trade. Q. How can I link options data to a spreadsheet?

A. First, you must “publish” the prices to ProphetX quotes. Click on the “What If” button in the upper portion of the Series display. Then, click on the Options Publishing checkbox. In a Quote Sheet you can now display the options symbols and all of their corresponding fields and link them the same way you link quotes. The publishing step is temporary. In a later version of ProphetX you will be able to link directly from the Series display.

Alerts

Q. I set a price alert and it didn’t activate.

A. Go to the Alerts/Price Alert dialog and make sure the alert is enabled. Is the Alert’s criterion correct? Then check to make sure you’ve selected the appropriate Action and Frequency.
