During the installation of the epMotion GxP enhancements, Eppendorf Service will create a reference list (IQ reference) which lists the current configuration of all relevant software and hardware components. This list is stored in the system.
You can compare the current system configuration to the reference list at any time in order to verify if the system configuration was subsequently changed, and on which components it was changed. Proceed as follows:
1. Open the Functions tab. Click on the IQ Functions entry.

2. Click on the Start button.
The system collects the required information and compares it with the reference list.
In the Preview window, the system automatically displays the results as a report which you can print out or save as an (optionally signed) PDF file.
3. Close the Preview window.
The result of the comparison is shown as a table in 5 categories.
The comparison criteria for each system component is listed in the Term column.
If system components deviate from the reference list, the corresponding entries are shown in red font and marked by a red cross on the printout/PDF file.

8 Troubleshooting 8.1 General errors
Additional instructions for troubleshooting can be found in the basic operating manual (see Using this manual on p. 5).
Symptom/message Cause Remedy
No valid reference file has been found. Please contact Eppendorf Service.
• The reference file for the Compare Reference (see p. 39) function has not been created, or is unreadable or invalid. This may occur following a new installation of the system.
Please contact Eppendorf Service to have a new reference file created.
Message Queue service is not available.
The Microsoft Message Queue Service is not running. (When the epBlue server is started).
• System services could not be started.
If this is the case, the system cannot record any audit trail entries.
Restart the integrated PC.
If the problem still occurs after the PC has been restarted, please contact Eppendorf Service.
When the epBlue server is started, the Sql server settings dialog, in which connection settings for communication with the database server must be entered, appears.
The A database connection failed and the application cannot continue dialog appears.
• The database server is not available.
• The database server settings have been changed.
Restart the integrated PC and wait until all system components have been fully started.
If the problem still occurs after the PC has been restarted, please contact Eppendorf Service.
Signature of PDF file cannot be
verified. • The master certificate was not
imported into the PDF viewer.
• The trustworthiness of the master certificate was set incorrectly in the PDF viewer.
Import the master certificate into the PDF viewer and classify it as trustworthy (see p. 22).
A log file cannot be signed. • The revision of the application to which the log file belongs does not have the status authorized.
Sign the affected revision as
authorized and restart the application.
A log file or application cannot be
signed. • You do not have the required
signing right. As a user belonging to the user group Administrator change the signature scheme for log files or applications (see p. 33).
As a user belonging to the user group Administrator assign the affected user account to another user group (see p. 34).
An application cannot be deleted. • At least one revision of the affected
application is signed. Archive signed applications in order to remove them from the system (see p. 37).
A user account cannot be deleted. • The user account has at least one
signed application. Archive all the signed applications which are stored under the user account to be deleted (see p. 37).
Then delete the user account.
User defined labware cannot be
deleted. • The labware is used in at least one
signed applications and is therefore marked as Locked.
Archive all signed applications that use the labware (see p. 37). Then delete the labware.
When starting an application, the Levels setting of the optical sensor cannot be changed.
• The revision of the application to be started is signed. In this case, the system only allows the preset settings to be used.
As a user belonging to the user group Administrator change the default settings of the optical sensor.
