(A) At all meetings of the Cast called by the Deputy, the vote shall be conducted by secret ballot.
(B) Should any situation arise in which the Producer wishes the Cast to consider any proposition not covered by the standard Equity contract of employment or Equity rules, the Producer shall notify the Deputy and the Deputy shall arrange a meeting of the Cast, which may be held at the theatre where the company is performing. At such meeting or meetings, neither the Producer nor the Producer’s representative shall be present unless so requested by a majority of the Cast, but in no event shall the Producer or the Producer’s representative be present when a vote is taken. Any proposed action by the Cast shall not be binding, however, without the written approval of Equity.
(C) The determination of Equity as to any issue arising under the above provisions shall be final and binding upon the Producer and each Actor.
ADDENDUM #1
EQUITY STANDARDS FOR ACTORS' HOUSING
(1) The premises must be reputable, clean and sanitary.
(2) Rooms must have bedding, bed linens, towels, etc., window coverings, and heat and air cooling equipment as is appropriate to the climatic conditions.
(3) A private room must be available to each Actor, with a lock, from both inside and outside, unless the room is in a private home which has locks on outside doors.
(4) Where a kitchen is provided, cooking and eating utensils are to be furnished. (5) Bath facilities, if shared, shall offer privacy while in use by the Actor.
(6) Any housing list must provide the below-listed information. (a) Cost (daily or weekly rate).
(b) Pertinent facts about commercial lodgings (i.e., hotel or motel), such as whether or not there is a TV, swimming pool, a private or public bath or shower, telephone availability, parking for cars, allowance for pets and/or children, single or double beds, food service on the premises (and, if so, what types), provision for security, etc.
(c) Pertinent facts about private housing, such as the size and location of the room, the type of bed, the number and ages of children in residence, the number of other adults in household, the number and types of pets, the number of persons sharing a bathroom with the Actor, whether there is a tub or shower, whether there are kitchen privileges, whether smoking is permitted, whether the permanent resident smokes, whether there is a telephone and other equipment available (e.g., answering machine) available to the Actor, etc.
(d) Local transportation, or lack thereof, and the proximity of the housing to that transportation.
(e) The availability of restaurants, laundry facilities, and retail shops in the
neighborhood, and the distance from those conveniences to each housing location. (f) The distance between the housing and the theatre.
