a new language froma differentlinguistic system can be very difficult. Researchalso indicates

learning

the grammar, pronunciationandvocabularyfrom a new languagecanbemoredifficult foradultsthan kids. However, aSpanish writer

a Nobel Prizewinnerin 1989 said, the threemajor

languages

likely

to bespoken in thefuturewould be English,ChineseandSpanish. Iaskedhow?Theansweris dueto the rapid growth ofthe Spanish and Chinese

economyand population. Hence,thestudyofthese

languagesis important.

Chinese is my first language, but my undergraduate

Iwill create adigital multi-languagestory book forpeople

elements:

Motiongraphics:Therewillbeno stillimagesin thebook. Animated graphics will be used to showthestory,

accompanied withtext toexplainthestory. Users can use a control barto stoporto pausetheanimation.

Pronouncing: The usernotonlycan read thestory, but

can hearthestoryalso.The storywill berecorded

by

the native languagesspeakers.

Fun: Both ofthe referred stories havethesame

character, thewolf.Butthewolfisalwaysdescribedas a villain. Baseonthis point, I'd liketo create a new versionofstory, which overturnsthe personalityof

thewolf.

Moreover,

Story

The storycombines charactersfromtwotales,"The Three

Little Pigs"and"The Little Red

Riding

Hood."The story

revolves around on thecommon character,'the

wolf"

to

develop

thestructure andto create a newversion, which

overturnsthestereotypical imageofthewolf.

The waytoexpressthewolfis misunderstood as a villain

isto employa succession of misinterpretationsbetween

each character and thewolf.

In theend ofthestory, thewolfis

dead,

and thenewsis

published onthelocal newspaper.Therefore,theusercan

explorethestory

by

readingthe

motion-graphics-newspaper. In this way, theorder of each plot

isn't as critical asfortheother story.

Thus,

no matter

which plotthe user start

from,

theuser still can

comprehend thewhole story.

Thespecialtyofthe

The users also stressed theirconcern onthespeed ofthe

Though it is a positiveconcern, Ialso seethis as a

drawbackthat I didn't put intoconsideration when I was

working onthe motion graphics. I believe it iscritical for

metolearnthatalthough adesignwork needsfinetuning

Because my undergraduate major wasn'tin

It tooka

long

time tofinishthis project becauseI had to

learn and to think through each and everyone ofthe

characters actions forthemotion graphics before

doing

characters design.

For the interface

itwas really a great challenge.
