(2) Loading the camera o Press the two parts of the spring catch (4) together, open the camera back and pull the rewind knob (5) out to its full extent (see Fig. l). o Attach the film to the take-up spool (19)so that o n e p e r f o r a t i o nf i t s o v e r t h e l u g ; t h e n p u l l t h e f i l m across the film channel, fit the cassette into its recess and push home the rewind knob (Fig.ll).. VITORET. o P r e s sd o w n o n t h e b u t t o n( 9 ) a n d t u r n t h e t a k e - u p spool by the milled edge at the bottom until both rows of perforation engage on the sprocket teeth of the film advance spindle (Fig. lll). Close the camera back. o Turn the milled edge of the film counter (12) until the diamond mark I is against the red dot w h e n l o a d i n g a 3 6 - e x p o s u r ef i l m ( o r t h e O m a r k f o r a 2 o - e x p o s u r ef i l m ) . O p e r a t e t h e r a p i d w i n d l e v e r and shutter release alternately until the counter i n d i c a t e s 3 6 ( o r 2 0 ) . l t w i l l n o w a u t o m a t i c a l l ys h o w t h e n u m b e r o f f r a m e s l e f t u n e x D o s e de a c h t i m e t h e film is advanced. Unloading lhe camera Press button (9) and hold it down. Turn the rewind knob (5) in the direction shown by the arrow u n t i l t h e I o r O m a r k r e a p p e a r si n t h e f i l m c o u n t e r w i n d o w . T h e n r e l e a s et h e b u t t o n , o p e n t h e c a m e r a back, pull out the rewind knob and remove the cassette from the camera. Ghanging partly-exposed films A f t e r n o t i n g t h e n u m b e r i n d i c a t e db y t h e f i l m c o u n t e r , r e m o v e a n d r e l o a d t h e p a r t l y - e x p o s e df i l m a s d e s c r i b e d a b o v e . (4) B r i g h t - l i n e v i e w fi n d e r T h e c l e a r , b r i g h t - l i n ef r a m e i n t h e v i e w fi n d e r s h o w s the exact limits of what you will get on the film and you see the subject bright and life-size As you come nearer to the subject, t h e a r e a s e e n b y t h e v i e w f i n d e rs h i f t s slightly to one side The two short lines at the edges of the bright-line frame indicatethe top and sidewavs limits of your picturdat a distance of 3-6 feet (1-2 m), depending on whether the camera is being used for an upright or horizontal picture Rapid lever wind The lever must always be taken to the full extent of its travel; this cocks the shutter, advances the film and operates the film counter. An automatic i n t e r l o c k ,w o r k i n g i n c o n j u n c t i o nw i t h t h e s h u t t e r release, prevents double exposures and missed, blankframes Shutter release T h i s s h o u l d b e g e n t l y s q u e e z e d- n e v e r j e r k e d , a s t h i s w i l i i e a d t o a b l u r r e dp t c t u r e FIash exposures The built-in capacitor flashgun means that the camera is ready to use at any moment; flash is not onjy for taking pictures after dark, in the home or ai parties - you can use it out-of-doorson dull days to give close-up portraits an attractive "sunshine" effect, or to lighten the dark shadow areas w h e n s h o o t i n g a g a i n s tt h e l i g h t . Type AG-1 flashbulbsmust be used.. Inserting the tlashbulb: P r e s s t h e c a t c h ( 1 4 )t o t h e right to allow the reflector t o s p r i n gu p i n t o p o s l t i o n . Press an AG-1 flashbulb vertically down into the socket (16). For safety's sake you should use the f l a s h - g u a r ds u p p l i e d w i t h every camera; this fits with the two lugs enEaged in the slots (17) so that it comes in front of the bulb (see diagram, top right). Setting the aperture: Set the centre disc of the calculator (5a) for the speed (ASA or DIN number) of the film being used You can then read off against the feet scale (in yellow) or the metre scale (in white) the aperture number needed at a given subject distance; set this on the aperture scale (7). Shutter speed: l/so sec Ejecting the flashbulb: Pull the reflectorgently to the rear. The spent (and hot) bulb will then be loose in its socketand will drop out tf the camera is tilted to one side. Fitting the battery: Press the cover (18) gently inwards and twist it to the left until the two red dots are in line. lt can then be removed, and later replaced by reversing t h e p r o c e d u r e .T h e 1 5 V b a t t e r y m u s t b e f j t t e d w i t h the +pole inwards,. www.orphancameras.com.

(5) Aperture and depth of fleld The depth of field is the area of the subject, in front of and behind the point focused on, which will be reproduced with acceptable sharpness on the film; it extendsfrom the distanceshown on the left of the focusing scale againstthe aperturenumber on scale (2) matching that set on the camera to the distance shown against the same aperture number to the right of the A mark. l,lote: when the aperture is set on s m a l l n u m b e r s ( e . 9 .2 . 8 o r 4 ) t h e r e i s less depth of field; at the higher aperture numbers (e.9. 11 or 16) there is greater depth of field..
