Contagious Adventists: In a world where everyone is trying not to spread COVID-19, what if there was something else worth spreading around? What if the love of Christ was so powerfully beaming from our hearts that it was seen, felt, and witnessed by the world around us? What if we as God’s ambassadors could be righteously contagious because the Spirit of the Living God empowered us like never before? You are invited to a special 9-session seminar series that begins next Sabbath (3 sessions-9:30 a.m., Worship, 2 p.m.) and will continue each Sabbath afternoon via Zoom (1 session per week) at 4 p.m. through February 20th. Come get righteously contagious for the glory of God! Zoom link will be emailed out or you can request it be sent to you at [email protected]. See flier for more details.

Welcome the Sabbath Call: Please know we will continue our weekly Sabbath calls at 5:30 pm through January and the call will move to 6:00 pm for the month of February. We simply dial in (605.313.5375, access code: 463992#) enjoy a brief devotional thought, share praises and prayer requests, and wish one another a happy Sabbath. Why not take a few minutes to join in? You will be blessed.

Secretary Needed: As we enter a new year, we also find ourselves in need of a church secretary once more. Ginger has found full-time work and needs to step away. If you possess a love for our church, great computer and interpersonal skills, and are looking for a flexible part-time job (15 hours/ week) then please contact Pr. Bentley to inquire further. Position is immediately available.

Metro Choir. Our Christmas program showed that even a few people can make beautiful music, in a safe manner. But we are looking for more. If you are ready to come back, we are having an organizational meeting/rehearsal Friday, January 15th at 7 PM at the church. We will be distanced and wearing masks. If it's still too early for you, please keep us in mind and join us when you feel comfortable. For more information, contact Cheri Gilbert at 248 210-7669 or by email at [email protected]. New members encouraged.

Metro Midweek: "Last Day Events". The discussion is based on the Bible and the book that contains Ellen White's compiled comments on the subject. Please plan to join in on this exciting discussion each Wednesday at 7 p.m. via Zoom or watch the live stream.

Face Coverings: Please remember that we are still asking that everyone please wear a face covering when you are up moving around. However, once in your seat for the service, you can remove your covering. Those who want to wear them the entire time are also welcome and encouraged to do so. As an additional precaution, we would kindly ask that you wear your mask while singing.

Announcements

January 8, 2021

Many of you may have already heard that on

November 28, Bob Weaver, husband of our

Physical Education teacher, Jeanie Weaver,

passed away. His memorial service (virtual only

due to COVID) will be held Sunday, January 17 at

10:00 a.m..

You may view it at the website set up by the family,

bobweavermemorial.com

If you are unable to view it at that time, it will

continue to be available on the website.

It was Bob’s wish that, in lieu of traditional

tangible gifts or flowers, ALL funds be directed

towards a service project in his memory. His

sister, Dr. Sharon Pittman, is Vice Chancellor of

Malawi Adventist University. One thing that kept

him going in his final weeks of his life was

plan-ning a mission trip to help her complete

construction on the school’s residence hall. We

are now asking that donations be made to

complete this service project in his honor.

School will dismiss at 11:45 a.m.,

Friday, January 15 for the start of

the long Martin Luther King

Birthday weekend. There will be

no school Monday, January 18.

Classes will resume, Tuesday,

January 19.

January 15 is also the end of our

1st semester and we are thankful

to have reached this milestone

given the circumstances in

today’s world!

Parent/Teacher Conferences via

Google Meet will take place the

afternoon of Thursday,

February 4. Sign up sheets to

schedule appointments will be

sent the end of January.
