Senator John Barrasso was sworn into the United States Senate in 2007, having represented the people of Natrona County in the Wyoming State Senate from 2003-2007. In November 2018, Barrasso was reelected to the U.S. Senate with more than sixty-seven percent of the vote.

He is the third-ranking member of the Senate Republican leadership as Chairman of the Senate Republican Cnference.

He serves on committees that directly impact Wyoming's economy, energy interests, public lands, national parks and trade. In addi-tion to other committee assignments, Barrasso is the lead Republican on the Senate Energy and National Resources Committee. Senator Barrasso is known by many as Wyoming's Doctor. During his 24 years as an orthopedic surgeon, Barrasso served as President of the Wyoming Medical Society and was named Wyoming Physician of the Year.

Barrasso has three children - Peter, Emma and Hadley. He and his wife, Bobbi, live in Casper.

WYOMING’S CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION

A fourth generation Wyoming native, Cynthia Lummis was sworn into the United States Senate in January 2021. From 2008 to 2016, she served as Wyoming’s lone Congressman in Washington, D.C. where she elevated western issues on the national stage, championed Wyoming’s mineral and energy resources, and fought to rein in spending and reduce the federal deficit.

Prior to serving in Congress, she spent eight years as Wyoming State Treasurer and 14 years as a member of the Wyoming State House and Senate. She also helped operate her family’s cattle ranches in Laramie County. Cynthia is a three-time graduate of the University of Wyoming. She and her late-husband, Al Wiederspahn, have one daughter, Annaliese Wiederspahn, son-in-law, Will Cole, and a grandson, affectionally called ‘Gus.’

Liz Cheney serves as Wyoming’s lone member of Congress in the U.S. House of Representatives. She was first elected in 2016, on a platform of restor-ing America’s strength and power in the world, and pursuing conservative solutions to create jobs, cut taxes and regulation, and expand America’s energy, mining and agriculture industries. Cheney serves on the House Armed Services Committee, Natural Resources Committee and Rules Committee. In November 2018, Cheney was elected by her col-leagues to House leadership as the Chair of the House Republican Conference, the third-ranking Republican in the House of Representatives.

Prior to her election to Congress, Liz served at the State Department as a Deputy Assistant Secretary of State and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the Middle East. She also practiced law at White & Case and at the International Finance Corporation. A specialist in national security and foreign policy, she was also a Fox News analyst, and the co-author, along with Vice President Cheney, of Exceptional: Why The World Needs a Powerful America. She is a member of the International Board of Advisors at the University of Wyoming.

Liz and her husband Phil Perry have five children and live in Wilson, Wyoming.

WYOMING’S ELECTED OFFICIALS

Mark Gordon was elected Wyoming's 33rd Governor, on Nov. 6, 2018. He was sworn into office on January 7, 2019.

Growing up on the family ranch in Johnson County, Governor Gordon learned the values of hard work and integrity and the importance of work-ing together. As Governor, he brwork-ings those values to the table in pursuing his commitment that Wyoming continues to be a place where its citizens can pursue their dreams while retaining its unique char-acter. He is a strong believer in Wyoming's ability to chart its own course and a staunch defender of its interests to do so. Governor Gordon is working on efforts to set Wyoming on a sustainable fiscal path and making government more accessible, produc-tive and efficient. As part of those efforts, Gordon seeks to refocus government to better assist local communities with the tools and resources needed to thrive and set their own direction. He is also dedicated to ensuring that citizens have access to quality education, including safer schools, advanced degrees, and career and technical education opportunities.

Governor Gordon served as Wyoming State Treasurer from October 2012 until January 2019 when he was sworn in as Governor. As State Treasurer, he led a transformation of the office resulting in improved returns on state investments, better protection of state savings, and increased transparency and access to state financial data for the public. His efforts to improve transparency surrounding the state’s financial portfolio resulted in Wyoming being ranked number one in the United States for transparency and third in the world among all sovereign funds.

Governor Gordon and his wife Jennie have four grown children, Anne, Aaron with wife Megan, Bea with fiancé Austen, and Spencer with wife Sarah and their son Everett.

Edward Buchanan was appointed as Wyoming's 22nd Secretary of State in 2018 and elected to the position in the 2018 General Election. As Secretary, Mr. Buchanan over-sees elections, business corporations, secu-rities regulations and is the custodian of the state seal and the bucking horse and rider. He is Wyoming's chief elections officer and serves as a member of the State Loan and Investment Board, State Lands Commission and the State Building Commission.

Ed was raised in Goshen County near Lingle. He attended the University of Wyoming, earning a BA, Political Science and an officer's commission through Air Force ROTC. He also has MA, Public Administration and J.D. Law at the UW College of Law. He practiced law in Torrington and served 10 years in the Wyoming State Legislature.

Mr. Buchanan is a member of the National Assn. of Secretaries of State as well as the Nat. Lieutenant Governors' Assn. Ed and his wife, Amber, have four children and enjoy their time watching them compete athletically. Ed is an accomplished pilot and he enjoys flying, sports, outdoor activities, and specifically bird hunting with the family dog, Allie. Kristi Racines was elected in November 2018 as Wyoming's 21st State Auditor who serves as the state's chief accountant and payroll officer, and also is a member of the State Loan and Investment Board, the Board of Land Commissioners and the State Building Commisstion.

Kristi is a fourth generation Wyomingite with family roots in ranching and the oil and gas industries. She was raised in Bar Nunn, Evanston and Riverton. After graduating from Riverton High School, she attended the University of Wyoming, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish. She became licensed as a Certified Public Accountant and worked as an auditor in the private sector before beginning her State service career in 2010. Until her election, she served as the Chief Fiscal Officer and Director of Human Resources of Wyoming's judicial branch. She has served on the State Employee Compensation Commission, the Government Efficiency Commission and serves on the Board of Goodwill of Wyoming.

In her personal life, Kristi is an avid runner and sportsman, enjoy-ing huntenjoy-ing, fishenjoy-ing and hikenjoy-ing. She and her husband, Torey, reside in Cheyenne with their two children, Addie and Theo.

Curt Meier is a Wyoming farmer and businessman who has been a member of the Wyoming State Senate since 1995. Meier lives within 1/4 mile of the place where he and his brother grew up in LaGrange.

Curt received a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science at the University of Wyoming, where he attended school on an academ-ic scholarship. Curt's wife, Charlene, taught school in Goshen County for 44 years, while he continued to successfully manage his growing business ventures.

Over the course of Meier's Senate career, he served eight years on the Joint Appropriations Committee and has also been the legislature's State Retirement Boards Liaison since 2009. He most recently served as Chairman of the Senate's Transportation, Highways and Military Affairs Committee, formerly served as chair of the Senate Corporations, Elections and Political Subdivisions Committee and has worked for years to preserve and expand one of Wyoming's most treasured resouces on the Select Water Committee.

Meier has been recognized by numerous organizations for the work he has done for the citizens of Wyoming.

Curt is ready to commit himself to serving the people of Wyoming full-time and he is excited to bring his experience and leadership to the Office of State Treasurer.

Jillian Balow was elected to a second term as Wyoming's State Superintendent of Public Instruction in 2018. She is constitu-tionally entrusted with general supervision of Wyoming's public education system and sitting on critical state boards and commissions such as the University of Wyoming Board of Trustees and State Board of Land Commissioners.

Jillian is a fifth-generation Wyoming native. She taught in Wyoming classrooms for ten years and has worked to support Wyoming children and families her entire career.

She has an undergraduate degree in edu-cation from the University of Wyoming and a master's degree in education from Regis University. In addition to teaching, Jillian has consulted in the private sec-tor, served as an administrator at both the Wyoming Department of Family Services, and was a policy advisor to Governor Matt Mead.

A mother of two, Jillian's daughter, Paiton, is 20 and is an active duty specialist in the Army. Her son, Jack is fifteen. Her husband, John, is an elementary school principal.
