Getting more from your Platinum App
Monthly Analytics & Reporting
>>>
Your monthly App Analytics
You now have monthly analytics installed as part of your Platinum App. This means that from now on you will receive a monthly email containing lots of useful information about how your App is being used. It will be sent to the email address you previously supplied.
Important note: If you have recently upgraded to have tracking installed, it will only track users who have upgraded to
the latest version of your App by clicking the updates in the relevant store. Over time, most of your users will upgrade, but initially you may have only a small number. You can encourage your users to update to the latest version of your App by sending out a Push Notification encouraging them to do so.
The analytics data will show you who is using your latest App, how long they are engaging with your material and which pages they are visiting. Over the next few pages you’ll see what the email looks like, how to open your report and how to interpret the data.
If you would like to know the total number of people who have downloaded you App at any time, just email me and I will be happy to provide you with the up-to-date total.
Getting more from your App
This document also explains one or two ways you can increase both App downloads and end user interaction with your App.
As always, I am your primary contact so if you have any questions or need help, please let me know. Warm regards,

What will the email you receive each month look like?
Most of us get lots of emails; so knowing what to look out for in your inbox may be helpful. Here is what your email will look like:
From: [email protected] Subject Line: Your App Analytics Frequency: Monthly
Opening the email
To open the email simply double click on the PDF attachment. Saving it can be a good idea if you want to keep a record of your App analytics or forward the document to the other members of your team.
Understanding the report
Date Range - At the top of your report you will see the date period the report runs over. This will be the period between your last analytic report and the current one – set to run monthly.
Two graphs (left and right)
The graph on the left shows the total of ‘New Users’ who have accessed your App within the date range period. A ‘new user’ is someone who has not accessed your App previously during this period. The Graph on the right tracks ‘Active Users’. These are people who have already visited the App during the date range mentioned and have returned.
Screen Views by Screen Name
Beneath the graph on the left hand side you’ll see a list of 10 pages from your App that have been visited. The 10 shown will be the most visited 10 pages during the month. It’s likely that the sequence of the list, and the pages shown, will vary from month to month. This is very useful data because it shows how your customers and potential clients are engaging with your App and what is the most popular content they are viewing.

Average Duration and screens
On the right had side you’ll see your average session duration in minutes and also the screen views per session.
This shows you the level of interaction your App visitors are having. A low visit duration (30 seconds and less) and low screen volume means the App is not engaging the visitors (although some may just be visiting for a phone number etc).
Sessions by Country/Territory
Shows you where in the world your visitors are coming from. Helpful for large international firms and affiliates.
Mobile Device information
This is immensely useful data. It shows you the type of devices being used to explore your App.
Typically, Apple (iPhone and iPad) will account for 60 – 80% of your App traffic.
Other statistics
It is possible to extract further tracking data and provide customised reports. These are available on request and are manually put together, so let us know what you would like to see and we’ll do our best to prepare it for you. There is a small admin charge for custom reports.

Increasing the number of downloads of your App
Starting your promotion
As part of your App resource library, you have been given a ‘Marketing Checklist’ to kick start your App promotion. This lists some of the ways you can start promoting your App.
At an absolute basic level, your App needs to be on your website and shared with customers and potential prospects by email, post and social media.
If you have not yet requested the marketing launch pack, you can save yourself hours by using these tried and tested resources. Full details are available online.
Accelerating promotion and increasing downloads
Our App customers have used many different ways to accelerate the number of downloads of their App. Here are 3 of the most popular:
1. Using the App as a talking point –
App flyers
One of our clients said “The App’s been a big talking point with both clients and prospects. A nice, professional yet relaxed way to share how we are different without ‘selling’. We simply give them one of our App flyers, they get the App free and then we can communicate with them in a modern an incredibly simple way.”
The statement you make by giving away a ‘Free App’ is powerful, it implies:
You are different From their existing accountant
You are technologically advanced Their current firm are old fashioned and out of touch
You care enough to launch a free App Their current accountants don’t
You are proactive and prepared to reach out They have not heard from their firm since the last bill
You are smart, forward thinking and creative Rather than the stereotypical, dull accountant
2. Phone Covers for Staff, clients and prospecting meetings
We’ve had mixed feedback on phone covers. Like opinions on Marmite, it’s split down the middle! Ultimately, it comes down to budget. If you’re prepared to invest £4 - £5 per cover for staff, clients and prospects then it’s a fantastic idea. If it’s out of scope for your budget then other ideas used by firms are: branded pens, phone holders and even phone shaped stress balls!
Getting your own branded phone covers created and offering them to your clients and prospects is an inexpensive way to re-enforce brand. As long as the cover is of good quality, well designed and not overtly promoting your firm, they are incredibly well received. Firms have given away phone covers in meetings, to clients, over networking sessions, at exhibitions and even in the local pub. They can be a great talking point, and all for the cost of a parking ticket.
3. Make sure your introducers know about the App
This can create some big wins for you. Tell your introducers about your App, explain how it works and what it does for the end users. Ask them to share it with their networks and community (make sure you arm them with some flyers, iphone cases or similar).
Automated promotion
Finally, all your marketing done for you!
Perhaps the biggest obstacle to growth faced by most firms is ‘implementation’. In other words, ‘getting things done’. That’s why, just a few months ago, our expert marketing team joined our App team and a handful of firms to pilot an automated solution. A solution that ‘does it all’ for them. From database searches and CRM management, to LinkedIn promotion, tweets and direct mail. From sophisticated email marketing, to lead tracking and high quality telephone follow up.
Does it work?
In a word, YES! Over just 4 months, for 8 firms, our expert team generated:
•
8 customised databases - 1 per firm•
85% increase in App downloads (an amazing platform to build on)•
Over 440 qualified companies, graded warm to hot•
30+ pre-qualified, hand-picked appointments•
Dozens of replies from potential clients saying how much they ‘loved’ the approachBelow you can read 3 of the replies we received from potential clients during the marketing pilot. For further details of the Automated Marketing promotion, please click here.
Hi
If you’re in the area, I certainly wouldn’t be averse to you popping in for a quick chat. I’m impressed with the innovation you guys have shown with the app and the way you’ve promoted it.
The late afternoon slot would be better for me. Alternatively, if you’ve received responses from hotter prospects in the meantime, I won’t be offended if I’m overlooked – I know what it’s like trying to juggle meeting times with prospective clients! Best wishes,
You are pushy with your emails, but, as I know, if you don’t push yourself forward, nobody else will do it for you.
On that basis, having studied your website, I would like to arrange a meeting before the dates you have given as I am away over that period.
Can you contact me to arrange a mutually convenient time. Regards,
Increasing the interaction with your App
There are a number of ways to encourage your App users to interact with your App. Without question, the Number 1 method is to use Push Notifications.
Send in Seconds; enjoy a 97% open rate and improve relationships
For the majority of firms, even sending an email to customers can be a real effort. Many still send trusty old ‘letters in the post’ which is often a waste of time, effort, money and resources.
Of course, there is nothing wrong with email marketing or direct mail we advocate them both. But when there is a far more efficient, time-effective, and well received form of communication, it seems ridiculous not to use it as part of your communication strategy.
Make real use of the Push Notification feature
A Push Notification is a short message that App clients can send out to all their App users. It takes just seconds to write, it’s sent instantly and automatically lands on all your App users’ phones or tablets.
And that’s not all. On average, a Push Notification generates +97% open rate. By comparison, emails generate an open rate of 4%, if you are lucky.
Let’s put that another way. Push Notifications are easy to write, take seconds to send and generate a 93% higher open rate than emails. Why wouldn’t you use them?
Better still, thanks to a handy in-built scheduler, you can even pre-programme your Push Notifications to be sent out on specific dates for a month, a quarter or even the entire year.
