course on a monthly basis. The course we deliver includes Provide
First Aid and Responsible Service of Alcohol.
Upon successful completion of the course and after obtaining a
security license, MSS Security offers a training to recruitment
pathway to license holders that meet the relevant selection criteria.
The cost of the course is $900 and discount is available to family
and friends of current MSS Security employees.

Course Units (CPP20212)
To become employed as a security officer you are required to undertake training in the
following units in order to obtain your South Australian Security Licence.
Core Units:
CPPSEC2001A - Communicate effectively in the security industry CPPSEC2003B - Work effectively in the security industry
CPPSEC2002A - Follow workplace safety procedures in the security industry CPPSEC2004B - Respond to a security risk situation
CPPSEC2005A - Work as a part of a security team CPPSEC2006B - Provide security services to clients HLTAID003 - Provide First Aid
Elective Units:
CPPSEC2015A - Patrol Premises
CPPSEC2011B - Control access to and exit from premises CPPSEC2014A - Operate basic security equipment TLIE2007A - Use communication systems
CPPSEC2017A - Protect self and other using basic defensive tactics Crowd Control (inclusive):
These units are in addition to the Certificate II in Security Operations units above. For employment in Crowd Control you must undertake the following elective units. Elective Units:

CPPSEC2012A - Monitor and control Individual and crowd behavior CPPSEC3002A - Manage conflict through negotiation
CPPSEC3013A - Control person using empty hand techniques Responsible Service of Alcohol:

Once you have obtained your security license (including Crowd Control) you are required to complete an additional unit in order to gain employment at a licensed premises.

Security Agent’s Licensing Requirements for South Australia
If you wish to perform duties as a Security Officer or Crowd Controller in South Australia you must have a
Security Agents Licence. You can apply for this when you have successfully completed the necessary
training requirements set down by the Commissioner of the Consumer and Business Services.

When applying for your Security Agents Licence you must provide the following information with you
application:
Provide original copies of the qualification you obtained including the units you have successfully
completed.
100 points of identification (eg: driver’s licence, birth certificate, passport, Medicare card, bank card or
credit card, utilities bill).
A Personal Information Declaration form is provided at the time of application and must be completed
in full (anything left blank will require you to re-submit). You will also need to be fingerprinted by South
Australia Police, these arrangements are made after the lodgement of your application.
