Standing Ovations - June 23rd

Hello staff, parents and students,

This document outlines all information regarding the Standing Ovations festival held at the Dow in Fort Saskatchewan on Wednesday, June 23rd.

Please carefully and thoroughly read through this document prior to reaching out to the studio with questions. We understand you may have questions however, please refer to this package first.

INTRODUCTION

Some quick notes regarding next week…schedules to follow in the next email:

● Dancers will be allowed to arrive no earlier than 1 hour prior to their start time and MUST come stage ready.

● Warm up room assignments are listed on your schedules. Please remember that there will not be time for full rehearsals. These rooms are meant for stretching and changing. Coordinating washrooms are also listed on your schedules..

● Boys change room – shower location change room

● Please keep your areas clean and organized so the next session can come in easily.

● Dancers do not need to mask or distance while performing. However, they must mask and social distance everywhere else in the venue. Please respect venue policies and do your best to follow the guidelines.

● Dancers are to gather belongings immediately following the end of their session and exit the building. There is to be no lingering, visiting, etc.

● Please be very aware of the NO intermingling guideline between groups while in the venue.

● All times are approximate but we will do our absolute best to stay on time!

● Storage space is limited in the backstage area. Props must be unloaded and loaded on the day of use only.

● Please be sure to bring your own rosin and ice packs as these are not supplied by SOFS.

● Parents will be allowed to be in the audience, tickets sales information is in this package.

● If you would like to be a parent volunteer please let the office know.

Studio Makeup & Hair

Makeup will be uniform and standard for all students this year.

● Black mascara and/or black false lashes

● Black eyeliner along top upper eyelid

● Brown smokey eyes (darker eyeshadow in outer corner of eyes, light brown eyeshadow on inner eyelid)

● Please reference picture below

● Setting spray is recommended for makeup so as no touch-ups will be necessary.

Hair will also be uniform and standard for all students this year.

● Hair is parted down the middle and Dutch braided.

● If hair is long, please overlap braids so one is on top and one is on the bottom.

● Please reference the picture below on the left.

● Secure with flat hair pins.

● Use hairspray and/or gel to slick hair back neatly.

● This style has been chosen to accommodate changes, big hair pieces and to

remain in place for the duration of the day.

EXTRA DETAILS

● No nail polish

● Clear crystal earrings - (no other jewelry permitted) WHAT DO STUDENTS BRING WITH THEM?

● Students are allowed to bring a tupperware bin (preferable with a lid) in order to place all their needed belongings in - label your bin clearly w/ first & last name

● What should I pack in my bin?

- Water bottle labeled w/ name - Small snacks if required - Dance shoes

- Extra mask as a backup (preferably plain black) - Hand santizer and/or sanitizing wipes

● Tupperware bins are recommended for easy cleaning.

I HAVE MULTIPLE DANCES, WHAT DO I DO?

● There is limited access to dressing rooms.

● Please wear a bodysuit under your costume if you have multiple dances - this makes costume changes throughout the day easy without the need for a private room.

● This bodysuit can be any colour - the studio has no specific requirement.

● Hair and makeup are standard for all students - there will be limited access for hair and makeup changes/touch-ups.

WHAT DO I WEAR?

● All students are to arrive at the theater with their costumes on and hair and makeup done.

● Please have dance shoes in tupperware

● Email the studio with your students name and group if you are unsure what colour tights to wear - typically ballet wear capezio and jazz/lyrical wear beige.

MASKS

● Miss Mary Anne has purchased nude masks for all students performing in Santana.

● Most masks will be distributed to students in the days leading up to the competition days.

● These masks were costly and are not to be lost as they will be used for

picture/video week.

Remember ‐ we can not have dancers buy a ticket and watch after they have danced! There can be no commingling as we have discussed and this is the only way they will let us have an audience.

If a studio does not follow this, they will stop the Show and move on to the next Show with no refunds for dances not completed. We are so lucky to have an audience, let's follow the rules so that we can continue!
