Site Definitions

System requirements can vary, depending on the size of your site.

Site Size Definition

Small 1–25 providers or 1–75 concurrent EMR users. Medium 26–200 providers or 75–600 concurrent EMR users. Large 201–800 providers or 601–2400 concurrent EMR users.

Sites with 800+ providers or 2400+ concurrent EMR users require a custom solution. Contact Kryptiq Customer Support to discuss the details.

Minimum Number of Servers

The required number of servers depends on the size of your site and the products that you purchase.

Server Environment

Kryptiq requires that you provide dedicated servers for the products listed in this document. Except for anti-virus client software, backup agents, and other utility software, no third-party software may be installed on a Kryptiq server.

Kryptiq supports the following technologies, regardless of your organization's size. Inform Kryptiq Customer Support if you intend to use them.

 Virtual Machines (VM).

Kryptiq supports virtual servers provided that the dedicated processor, memory, and hard drive resources comply with the minimum server requirements listed in this document. The database component must be located on a physical server.

 Storage Area Network (SAN) / Network Area Storage (NAS).  SSL Accelerators.

 Remote SQL database on a SQL Server dedicated to Kryptiq applications.  Remote SQL database on a SQL Server shared with non-Kryptiq applications.  SQL Server clustering.

Do not configure any Kryptiq server as a Primary or Backup Domain Controller. Kryptiq requires local ASP user accounts. If you configure the server as a domain controller, these accounts are unavailable.

SQL Server Recommendations

Consider these recommendations as you select Microsoft SQL Server 2008 software:

 For many small sites implementing a single-server solution, Microsoft SQL Server

2008 Express with Advanced Services is an excellent choice. SQL Server 2008 Express is free, it supports up to 10-GB databases, and its Advanced Services package contains useful database management features. Consider the following before choosing SQL Server 2008 Express:

• _{Lacks support for enterprise features.} • _{Limited to one CPU.}

• _{Buffer pool is limited to 1 GB.}

• _{Databases size is limited to 10 GB (Server 2008).}

 If you already have a dedicated SQL Server 2008, consider using that server to

host Kryptiq products such as Secure Messaging, Patient Portal, ePrescribing, and Document Management.

If you decide to use the remote SQL Server, Kryptiq requires SQL Server Authentication and an account with the db_owner role.

Minimum Network Requirements

These requirements apply to Secure Messaging and Patient Portal.

Network Component Details

Internet connection High-speed, always-on, reliable. Internet bandwidth 1 Mbps up/1 Mbps down (small sites).

5 Mbps up/2 Mbps down (medium/large sites). IP address One available external static IP address.

Firewall Provide a firewall with port 443 mapped to the Kryptiq Web server.

For added security, redirect port 80 to port 443. FQDN A fully qualified domain name (FQDN) is required

(for example, secure.yourorganization.org).

SSL certificate Must be obtained from a trusted certificate authority. Network connection 100 Mbps, full duplex.

LDAP Support

The Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) allows you to synchronize your Secure Messaging and Patient Portal user accounts with your network user accounts. Secure Messaging and Patient Portal natively support LDAP with the following

systems:

 Microsoft Active Directory in conjunction with Microsoft Exchange 2000, 2003,

2007, or 2010.

 Novell®_{eDirectory in conjunction with a Novell GroupWise installation that is}

configured for eDirectory LDAP authentication.

PDF Reader Install a PDF reader such as Adobe®_Reader®_{or Foxit Reader.}

Scanning software To create image files that Document Management can index, you must use software designed to manage the scanning process. Choose a third-party product with the following capabilities:

 Supports batch processing of multiple documents.

Converts paper documents to acceptable file formats (.PDF, .TIFF, etc.). Automatically saves PDF files to a designated folder with a unique name.

Document Management Scanner

Choose a TWAIN compliant scanner that supports your scanning software and your organization's needs.

Effect of Scanning on the Server Hard Drive Requirement

In most cases, the required 300 GB server hard drive is large enough to store images from several years of scanning activity. Estimate your eventual need for additional storage based on the rate at which you fill your hard drive or based on the guideline that 30,000 scanned pages (8.5 x 11 inches, black and white, 150 dpi) require

approximately 1 GB of hard drive space. Grayscale and color scanning require 4-10 times that amount.
