Course content
• The GCSE is assessed through two external exams
• Each exam is worth 50%
• There will be ample opportunity to program during
the course
• You will be given a programming task to complete,
but the marks won’t count which takes the pressure off you
as you code

transferable practical and theoretical skills:
• Programming skills in a modern language
• An understanding of how computers and networks work
• Knowledge of cyber-security and how hackers attack systems

Vocational qualifications
• There are a number of alternative vocational

Creative iMedia Level 1/2
• This is a vocational
course focusing on the
more creative areas of
digital development
• This has four units:
• One exam on pre-production
skills (worth 25%)
• One assignment on
digital graphics
• Two other optional units
on a media related topic
BTEC Tech Award in Digital IT
• This is a vocational course which has three
components
• An assignment on ‘User Interface design and project planning’
• An assignment on ‘collecting, presenting and interpreting data’
• An exam on ‘effective digital
working practices’ with
IT topics such as
hacking, legal and ethical
issues and how IT is
used in business
