Weekly Program

-Please check your email for your daily Webex Meeting times.

-The username and password details for all websites in this plan are glued into the front cover of your orange Remote Learning Workbook.

Speaking and Listening

Would You Rather? Talk to someone in your family about whether you would you rather have a dog or a cat as a pet?

Join in the Grammar Webex meeting today (see below)

OR

Look out of one of your windows at home and tell someone what you see and what is happening. Try to include some: -nouns (naming words – such as people, places, objects) e.g. trees, birds,

sky, car

-verbs (action words) e.g.

swaying, walking, chirping, playing, eating etc.

-adjectives (describing words) e.g. green, blue, sunny, quiet, noisy, messy, small, tall etc.

Talk to someone about ‘lockdown’.

Think about:

What has been the best thing about it?

What has been the worst thing?

Spelling/ Phonics

Spelling Webex Meeting: Join the meeting to complete your spelling tasks. Rocket Spelling: you will need your book and a pencil. Your teacher will choose a word. Then,

Weekly Spelling Words: ‘ll’: See Monday’s spelling words below (double ‘ll’).

Choose between 10-20 of these words to practicing spelling in your workbook, writing each word in a

different colour. If you are not able to attend the meeting, choose a word from one of your word list and ask someone to time you for two minutes, writing it as many times as you can. Then, write your spelling words in colour in your book.

Sight Word Spelling: Practice again to spell your personal sight words (from your red word book, inside your Take Home Reader) by choosing a different task from the Spelling Tasks from inside your orange Remote Learning Book. Sheet looks like this:

Weekly Spelling Words: ‘ff’:

See Wednesday’s spelling words below (double ‘ff’).

Choose 10 words to practice spelling in your workbook.

Then choose between 5-10 of these words to include in some interesting sentences or a silly short story in your workbook.

E.g. The big bad wolf tried to huff and puff

and blow the pig’s house down.

Home Reading: Read one of your Take Home Readers and tell someone about it. What did you like about the text?

What didn’t you like?

Reading Eggs

Log on to Reading Eggs or Reading Express and complete your tasks.

Reading Webex Meeting: Join the meeting to read a text with your teacher using a shared screen. If you can’t make the meeting log on to Sunshine Classics (same password as Sunshine Online) and choose a book from your level. Read the book and complete the activities.

Sunshine Online Log on to Sunshine Online (on your tablet or laptop) and read a book from your level. Complete the activities after you have read the text.

Home Reading: Choose one of your home reading books or a book from home to read and retell it to someone else. Have them ask you questions about it.

Grammar

Grammar Webex Meeting: Join the meeting today to practice some ‘Kung-Fu Punctuation’. If you can’t attend the meeting, go through some of your home reading books to see how many question marks, exclamationmarks and commas you can find. Optional Extension Task: Then write, or copy a sentence from a book, using some of these punctuation marks: . ! ? ,

and Capital letters.

Handwriting: Practice your handwriting by choosing different letters and numerals to practice writing in your workbooks using the dotted-thirds of the page. e.g

Personal Writing Choose from either: Weekend Writing: In your workbook write about what you did over the weekend. OR

Write a letter to Ms. Darrington: In your workbook write a letter to ME (or another teacher)! 😊 Some ideas of things to write to me about:

-some interesting things about yourself, or your family, or

-what you have been up to in lock down, or

-what you would like to be when you grow up, -how you have been feeling about the lock down and Remote Learning.

Choose from either: Narrative Writing Prompt: Use the picture prompt at the end of this plan - Option #1 to write a narrative (a story).

Use the questions to help you plan then write your story: What

happened? Was it an accident or planned? Who is responsible? What do they try to do to fix it?

OR

Writing Grid:

Alternatively, choose your own writing task from the Writing Grid that is glued into your Remote Learning Workbook.

Handwriting:

Re-trace in a coloured pencil the handwriting worksheets from last week that are glued in your workbook, called Trace the ABC and Writing Numbers 0-20. Then choose five letters and/or

numerals you think you need to practice. Write these 10 times each in your workbook using the dotted-thirds of the page.

Optional Extension Task: write some words or numbers that use those letters/numerals

Maths

Mystery Puzzle:

Complete the colour by Basic Addition

worksheet (from the plastic pocket). Then glue into your workbook.

Counting Practice: Use the 100 Chart and the Skip Counting sheet (glued into the back of your orange Remote Learning Book) to practice counting by 1s, 2s, 5s, 10s and 3s. Mathseeds or My Numeracy: Log on to Mathseeds or My Numeracy (in Essential Assessment) and complete your learning tasks.

Webex Meeting Bring your book and pencils to today’s meeting. Join your teacher for some numeracy and maths activities.

If you are not attending the meeting: Practice

Home Maths: Look at the clocks around your house. See if you can find an analogue clock (round one with hands) and a digital clock.

Challenge yourself to

count backwards as well as forwards; and start/end on different numbers e.g. skip count

by 2s but start on number 7: 7, 9, 11

Write some skip counting sequences in your workbook e.g.

2, 4, 6, 8, 10… 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13… 35, 30, 25, 20…

skip counting sequences in your workbook (different to Tuesday’s patterns) e.g. 11,21,31,41… 100,200,300,400… 105,110,115,120… 102,101,100,99,98… Play Guess the Number with your Hundreds Chart (at the back of your workbook) and someone in your family.

Draw a picture of an analogue clock in your book then show the time you go to bed. Now draw a digital clock and show the same time.

You may be able to draw other times such as when you get up, eat dinner, go to school etc.

Then walk around your house and yard and draw and label of some of the 2D shapes and 3D objects you see. Can you find the following shapes or objects: circle, rectangle, triangle, square sphere, cylinder, rectangular prism? Specialist & Integrated Studies Integrated Studies:
