Summary
I have over 10 years’ experience in the eLearning industry. My experience spans graphic design, bespoke development (JavaScript, CSS and HTML), authoring tools and Learning Management Systems. My broad experience provides a great
foundation for designing best architecture and development solutions.
I have an in depth understanding of eLearning technologies and pride myself on my ability to solve some of the most challenging technological requirements.
I take great pride in my work which is reflected in the quality of the end result.
Lead Developer (OmniAP/SumTotal)
I worked at OmniAP as the Lead Developer and was responsible for managing a team of 6 fulltime staff and sometimes up to 20 contract staff. Some projects also required managing offshore development on a large scale.
As Lead developer I was frequently on site with clients and working closely with stakeholders to ensure the smooth deployment of eLearning programs. My approach was to pre-empt potential issues, address them and then remain as invisible as possible (from the stakeholders perspective) throughout the duration of the project development and delivery. I approached eLearning delivery as a
collaboration and established good relationships, using open communication, with LMS administrators to minimise the project owners involvement with technical issues.
During my time at OmniAP I also developed the SCORM 1.2 framework that was used throughout the life of OmniAP, long after I had left the organisation.
Lead Front End Developer (Seertech Solutions)
After my time at OmniAP I was fortunate to work with Seertech Solutions, an LMS provider based out of Sydney. During my time with Seertech I was tasked with re-developing the front-end of their LMS offering iLearning PLUS. This was
templates and changed the architecture to a CSS driven to enable the rapid and flexible re-skinning of the front-end.
Due to my broad experience with eLearning content I naturally would assist many of our clients with interoperability issues and would frequently act on behalf of clients with eLearning content vendors and provide advice on deployment. I worked closely with Westpac Australia and developed the first edition of the Westpac eLearning Development Guidelines. I was also involved in running and information session on behalf of Westpac in which their vendors were invited to attend and discus the guidelines.
One of the most challenging, enjoyable and ultimately rewarding projects I was a key part of at Seertech was the conversion of the Java based SCORM 1.2 API to a JavaScript based SCORM 1.2 API. The Java based SCORM 1.2 API caused many interoperability issues and removing the dependency on Java resulted in a massive reduction in eLearning content related support. After deployment we were able to see an immediate drop-off in support related to lost data or content crashing. This project ticked all of the boxes in terms of taking me to the brink of despair, then punching the air (repeat x 10) and the end result being a successful one in terms of the technology and cost saving to our business and the clients business too.
