we

were fortunate in securing the services of Mr.

Lome

B.

Hulsman

as headmaster of our high school. There has been a

marked

improvement in attendance, interest and

in school morale which is very gratifying.

The

addition of the third teacher has been justified and the enrichment

of the course of study especially in its offering in science

has increased the interest of pui)ils in the school.

We

have received as gifts from ^Ir. C. I.

Nash

and

the dissolved Livermore school district an excellent i)iano, a large school library and the joint use with other schools of a motion picture machine and of a ]H)st card ju'ojector.

These gifts are thoroughly appreciated.

On

another page the school board presents its
(37)

has been carefully

made

on the ba^is of experience and is

as exact an estimate as one can

make

for a school year

that ends June 30, 1937.

The

only item that reriuires exi)lanation is the expense

for transportation. This

amount

based on this year's ex-perience totals $2195.00.

As

our conveyances serve both

high school and elementaiy pupils, the division of the expense between high and elementary schools has to be determined

more

or less arbitrarily.

We

have in our

])roposed budget chai'ged $1350 as elementary and $845 as

high school expense.

We

do not

know

whether or not in the distribution of state aid

we

shall be allowed as

much

as $1350 in our approved budget, but as a matter of raising

money

in school meeting it

makes

no difference.

Any

difference between the allowance of the state board on

this item and $845 raised for high school transportation,

would need to be added to the

amount

raised for high school transportation.

The amovmt

to l)e raised under article six as

recom-mended

by the school board is $14,651.00. Exjiense of

high school transportation, alterations and major repairs,

insurance and large items of

new

equipment

must

be

raised under the appropriate articles of the school

meet-ing warrant.

I wish to exju'ess

my

thanks to the scliool officials,

teachers, parents and citizens

who

have

shown

a fine sj^irit

of cooperation.

JOHN

H.

FULLER,

Superintendent. Feb. 15, 1936.
