Experian is the leading global information services company, providing data and analytical tools to clients in more than 65 countries. Experian needed the means to create business lists quickly from a very large information database. Avco developed a new version of Experian’s “Prospect Locator” application, to enable customers to purchase business data on a ‘self-service’ basis, via a website hosted within a secure PCI DSS compliant environment. Case Study: Experian - WhatIf
Experian had acquired another company (ISL) for the use of its statistical modelling software. The application collected and analysed statistical information from numerous insurance companies that offered policies on commercial / household properties and on motoring insurance for private vehicles. The original software was written in VB6. Processing was very slow and the application was unable to compete effectively with rival offerings from other organisations. Avco’s development team analysed the original source code and restructured the design, adding an integration layer to enable multi-processor support, to create a new and more efficient statistical modelling application.

Case Study: RR Donnelley - Rimage Solutions
In 2005, RR Donnelley acquired UK based Astron, to form RR Donnelley Global Document Solutions, working with more than 60,000 customers worldwide. Global telephone and mobile service providers such as BT have corporate users who run up enormous itemised bills which do not lend themselves to distribution by printing. The best possible alternative to printed bills was to distribute the data burned on to CDs and although a manual method was available it proved very labour intensive. Avco, being a value added reseller of Rimage systems, was able to offer a solution that could burn and print individualised customer data onto CDs, further verifying them to ensure the correct information went to the right customer. Case Study: Gabem - Payroll Engine
Gabem Management Ltd handles administration, tax and payroll for thousands of companies and self employed contractors. Gabem commissioned Avco to develop a bespoke payroll engine to generate thousands of payslips, previously calculated using an "off-the-shelf" package, which was obsolescent as a result of the sheer weekly volume of payslips. The result was the Avco Payroll Engine (APE). Running as a Web service, APE has no internal database, but takes an XML feed from Gabem’s accounting system. APE calculates thousands of contractors’ payslips every hour, including statutory payments, pensions, expenses and bonuses. The service has also been expanded to allow use by third parties on a pay-per-use basis.
