(11)

Off the line 15:00 Local Time

From Kish Light, South Rock is 016°T

27 – 30kn

18 – 22kn 22 – 25kn

(12)

Leg 1 – Start to Rathlin Is.

Area of strongest breeze, 27kn gusting 30 - 32 Area of strong breeze, 25 – 28kn

Leaving at 15:00 LT while hopefully mean the strongest breeze passes through, and that we enter the North Channel before the tide turns, we will exit the channel just after the tide has turned

VMG Downwind start, with building breeze the other side of Howth, which will probably result in a reef and Gen to J1 sail change. Should almost lay the South Rock buoy.

(13)

Leg 2 – Rathlin Is. to Black Rk.

Significant sea state still present, for a 15:00 start we are still catching a 2.5m+ sea state here.

Wind will shift right, all leg, from Rathlin Island its dead upwind to Tor Rocks with the wind then shifting further to free up the leg to Tory Island. We then bear away and begin to reach across Dongal Bay. Expect strongest winds at the start, but roughest seas at the end

3.0m 3.5m 2.5m 2.0m 2.0m Wind Waves Swell

Around 17:00 LT the centre of the Low pressure should pass just to the north of our course, with this will be right shift in the wind direction

(14)

Leg 3 – Black Rk. to Bull Rk.

Wind continues its right shift, expecting some extra local wind at Eagle Rk, at the start of the leg, then moderating to 18 – 20kn for most of the leg. Starting on a 100 TWA before turning down to a 140TWA, then VMG gybing down to the Fastnet RK. Sea state will continue to be 2.5 – 3m for the whole way down this leg.

Possibly at its roughest around the very bottom (Great Foze Rk)

(15)

Leg 4 – Bull Rk. to Tuskar Rk.

Wind wraps around the bottom of Ireland, with a little acceleration after the Fasnet Rk, but then settles again at 18 – 20kn.

This will be Downwind VMG, Gybing to stay in a mix of best pressure and sea state

POSSIBLE INSHORE ROUTE FROM FASTNET

As we approach Tuskar Rk, the tide will begin to turn and the wind will go from 18 – 16 – 12kn. The

direction will also begin to head as it gets lighter.

(16)

Leg 5 – Tuskar Rk. to Finish

Halfway up the final leg, and the wind heads

significantly, also note very light patch in the middle. Shore will probably pay, as this is where the wind is coming from.

Need to be aware of the sandbanks up this leg, and not getting stuck on the wrong side of them, also need a good plan for the finish, as it is likely to be upwind beating from

offshore. Possibly crossing the line over Kish Bank at the light house.
