Easy, secure payments start here
Welcome to WorldPay Zinc. We’re putting easy, secure card payments in the hands
of small businesses like yours. This guide will get you up and running.
All you need is:
• A WorldPay Zinc merchant account. We give you this when you sign up.
• One of our Chip & PIN keypads.
• The WorldPay Zinc app, available from the App Store. There’s more detail on all of these in this guide.
It couldn’t be simpler
WorldPay Zinc uses a Chip & PIN keypad, linked by Bluetooth to an app on your Apple device.
Together, they’re all you need to take credit and debit card payments on the spot, just about anywhere* All you have to do is:
The whole process takes around 30 seconds. Then you issue the cardholder a receipt. It’s just like paying for something in a shop. And you don’t have to worry about issuing bills or chasing payments. It’s all done. * Subject to mobile network coverage.
Enter the payment amount
on the WorldPay app. cardholder. They put their Give the keypad to the card in the slot, confirm
the amount, and enter their PIN.
The keypad sends us the details using the app on your Apple device.
We get authorisation from the bank, and send it
back through the app.

The basics
You need four things to make the service work:
A merchant account
This special account accepts the payments you take through WorldPay Zinc. Then it transfers the money automatically to your bank account. (You gave us your bank account details when you applied.)
Merchant ID (MID)
This is your unique WorldPay Zinc ID number. We emailed it to you when you signed up. You will need to quote your MID when you call to speak to us.
Terminal ID (TID)
This is your unique reference number for your Chip & PIN keypad. We emailed it to you when you signed up. You will need to enter this number when you are setting up the WorldPay Zinc app.
Chip & PIN keypad
Our keypads are simple, ergonomic and highly secure. They’re the only ones approved to be used with the WorldPay Zinc service.
Cardholders will only use the technology if they trust it completely. So look after yours and keep it safe. Each keypad is built with ‘tamper-proof, tamper-evident’ technology. If anyone tries to open or dismantle it (or breaks it by accident), it stops working completely.
Your Chip & PIN keypad
and the app
WorldPay Zinc combines a Chip & PIN keypad with an app on your
Apple device. They’re linked by a secure Bluetooth connection.

Problems?
If you have trouble with the pairing process, try resetting the keypad and your Apple device
To do this, go to the Bluetooth menu on your Apple device. Find the WorldPay Zinc device in the list, and tap the little arrow next to ‘Connected’. Then tap Forget this device.
On your Chip & PIN keypad, hold down the Enter key for five seconds to reset. Then start again from step 2.

Your Apple device will show a ‘Bluetooth Pairing Request’. Check that the passkey matches the one
on your keypad. (b)
If the passkeys match, tap Pair on your Apple
device and Enter on your keypad.
You have about 20 seconds to do this or the process times out. If that happens, you’ll see a
Pairing Unsuccessful message on your Apple
device. Just tap OK, select the WorldPay Zinc
device again and repeat steps 2 and 3.

Cash Payments
If you want to keep track of your cash payments you can do this through the WorldPay Zinc app, simply follow the process below.
Taking payments with magnetic stripe (magstripe) cards
Almost every card issued in the UK has a chip. But cards issued overseas may not. You can accept these with WorldPay Zinc, but the process is slightly different. The cardholder verifies the payment with a signature rather than a PIN.
1. Start the process as you would with a normal Chip & PIN card.
2. Instead of inserting the card into the bottom of the keypad, swipe it along the slot at the top. Make sure the magnetic stripe is facing away from you. You can swipe in either direction.
3. Once the card has been read, the customer will be asked to confirm the amount.
The cardholder needs to check the amount, then press Enter to confirm. Take the keypad back and wait for the payment to go through.
4. Ask the cardholder to sign in the signature box which will appear on your Apple device. Check that it matches the signature on the back of their card.
5. The app will ask you to confirm you’ve verified the signature. Press Enter on your keypad to confirm.
6. The app will go online to authorise the payment. Once we’ve approved the payment, you can issue a receipt as normal (see page 11).
7. Finally, tap the Done at the bottom to go back to the home page. Next, you can add a Payment
Reference so you can identify this sale later within your transaction information. This can be the customer’s name, an invoice number, or you can leave it blank.
(a) When you’re sure the details are correct, select Cash from the Payment Method options. (b)
Enter the amount of cash which your customer gives you and tap
Confirm.
You can issue a receipt as normal (see page 11).
