Reach a Wider Audience
Job boards specifically target candidates across the country, or even across the world, therefore ensuring your vacancy
will be viewed by millions and receive excellent application rates, helping you find the perfect candidate.
CV-Library currently hold over 6 million CVs from quality candidates across the UK.
Quality Candidates
A newspaper job advert will mean any candidate can apply; meaning candidates may be completely unsuitable for your vacancy. Most job boards have a
vast array of tools to ensure only suitable candidates can apply; including
screening questions and CV relevancy indicators.
CV Database Access
Online job boards typically work both ways. Not only are you posting vacancies to an audience of 1,000’s, but you also gain access to millions of
registered candidates’ CVs. This allows you to head-hunt relevant candidates directly by
using the database search tool, as well as narrow down results based on your specific criteria to help you find the perfect candidate.
Value for Money
Job boards offer a variety of
extra tools and support to
ensure you get a lot more
for your money than a
newspaper advert, although costs will vary according to job board. CV-Library offer a personal consultation to produce a
cost effective fee tailored to your individual
recruitment needs however many employees you are looking to hire.
Ease of Use
Job boards specifically design their sites to be easy to use, from both recruiter and candidate perspective. You will receive dedicated daily
support from a team of advisers if you have any
queries about your job advert. You can post a
job advert in minutes once you have all the
information.
Mobile Access
Recognising the development of technology, many of the leading job
boards have developed their own mobile sites and/or apps. This allows candidates to continue their job search
“on the go”, while they’re away from their
desktop.
Job boards specifically target candidates, providing them with the opportunity to find a
new job for themselves, with an easy to use interface and thousands of jobs on offer.
A majority of candidates visit a job board as their first port of call when job hunting.
Advertising your vacancies through your company website alone, means you will have to
rely on candidates to actually visit your website and locate the vacancies available. Local
newspapers are often a lot more expensive and can only target a limited audience.
Job boards offer a vast array of features to ensure your recruitment campaign is as successful
as possible. Features will vary according to each site and can be added on to your campaign
at any time throughout your contract to ensure your job posts receive maximum exposure
to relevant candidates.
Targeted Emails
These emails can be set up to reach a chosen amount of candidates who are registered with the job board and have expressed their interest for a career similar to the job vacancies you are advertising. Candidates are selected based on your own criteria, and they’ll receive potential
job opportunities directly to their inbox.
Bespoke Company Profile
To ensure your company looks as professional as possible, this recognisable branded profile will be designed appropriately to the style of
your existing company logo and branding.
The profile will help promote your company, giving it a professional style.
CV Database Search
Search for candidates just as they would for a job using your own criteria including keywords, location and industry specifics, with each matching CV appearing in the results. It’s simple and extremely fast, allowing you to head-hunt candidates directly.
CV Watchdogs
Using Smart Match technologies, if a candidate meets your selected criteria their CV is immediately
emailed to your inbox - just
like the targeted emails for candidates, taking all the hassle out of head-hunting. You won’t be receiving 100’s of emails a day either as you can specify a
minimum relevancy percentage grading to
ensure you only receive relevant candidates.
Featured Adverts
Your featured advert will rank higher in search
results as well as professionalise each of your vacancies. Featured adverts can increase conversion rates attractively, compared
to standard adverts, therefore increasing the likelihood of applications to your roles.
Premier Featured Adverts
This is the next step up as it is the most branded advert you can receive, evoking the best
application rates. Most job
boards, who offer this premier advert will have a design team to do it all for you, based on your current company branding and job description – saving you all the work. Candidates will see your job
ads in login areas and the vacancy will appear
as a featured job throughout searches.

Job boards understand that you can’t necessarily dedicate all of your time to recruitment, so
once you’ve signed up with the job board of your choice you can post your first vacancy
in minutes.
Job Description
When completing your job description, you need to sell the role to potential employees. Remain positive about the tasks, no matter how mundane some may be. Try to include a
variety of information about the role, the company and requirements needed to give
candidates an understanding of the role prior to application.
Salary
Salary amount can vary greatly according to the candidate’s previous experience, which is why some recruiters don’t wish to disclose salary information straight away. You can enter the estimated amount into your job advert and later choose to hide it from view which ensure it will still rank
in results when candidates search via salary.
Location
It’s no use a candidate finding the perfect job for them that’s 100’s of miles away, so be as specific as possible when posting your job advert. You can hide the exact location if you choose, but it will rank higher when a candidate
searches via location.
Boolean Searching
Boolean searching methods are a great way to ensure your database searches are as effective as possible, bringing back only the most relevant
candidates. For example, if you are looking for
a PE teacher, typing this in will bring back any CVs that include the letters ‘pe’ in. So, you may find unsuitable CVs in the results including words such as ‘expert’. Find out how to ensure your CV search results are as relevant as possible:

Network Reach
Most job boards have
extensive networks that increase exposure for recruiter’s vacancies. The
larger the network means the more candidates will be attracted to registering their CV and using the site to search for their job, meaning you’ll receive higher job application rates
and exposure for your company and vacancy.
CV-Library’s network includes sites such as: SalesJobs.co.uk, EngineeringJobs.co.uk, Constructor.co.uk and JobsRetail.co.uk
The Importance of Keywords
Sites will work on a keyword relevancy basis when matching up job vacancies with suitable candidates, or vice versa. However, don’t
overload your job description with them in the hope of ranking higher as results are
determined by a number of different factors.

Account Management
Most job boards offer dedicated
day to day support to assist you
with any queries you may have when using the service. Whether this is a simple question about the site or if you need extra support in boosting
your campaign to its full potential, having
a personal assistant at the end of the phone is a helpful tool to ensure your campaign is performing to the best of its ability.
Monthly Reports
Most sites will offer regular
reports to let you know exactly how your campaign is performing. This can be
particularly useful if you’re recruiting for a number of different positions.
Each report will be set out in a simple format allowing you to gauge exactly how well each of your adverts are performing. They are sent straight to your inbox - so you won’t have to keep checking up.
Improving Your
Campaign
If, after review, you’ve decided your campaign isn’t doing as well as it should be, you can easily contact your assigned support coordinator to discuss options of extra products to boost the
exposure of your vacancy. You could decide
to increase your listing to a premier advert, potentially increasing your rank in candidate’s search results and therefore, application rates. Your support coordinator will be happy to advise which product may be best to ensure you are
getting the most out of your campaign.
So, once you’ve chosen a suitable job board to advertise your vacancies on, how do you know
you’ve made the right choice? Most job boards will put in place a number of services to help
you ensure you are getting all that you were promised during the sale and it is as good value
for money as you’d hoped it would be. Keeping a close eye on your campaign will mean you
can easily assess the performance and success of your adverts in relation to views and
application rates.

How long are job posts typically
live for?
Usually 28 days, although this can be altered according to your own recruitment needs.
Can you view applications from
old job advertisements?
Yes, as long as the account is still live. If a candidate applied to one of your vacancies but wasn’t suitable and you feel they are suited better to another of your vacancies, you can view their previous application and contact them directly about another job vacancy.
Can you integrate job adverts
with social media?
Job adverts can be integrated with your
LinkedIn’s profile and twitter account, just as a candidate can link their CV on the job site with their LinkedIn profile. Candidates can also share job adverts through Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and LinkedIn.
Do most recent job adverts rank
higher in search results?
No, the ranking system is not determined by how recent the job was first posted on the site. Factors that affect each job vacancy’s rank include: location, salary, keywords, industry and the contract type on a relevancy basis. The more criteria the job matches against the candidates search results, the more relevant it is and so will be ranked higher.
Can I put my job advert on more
than one job board?
Yes, at your own discretion. You can post job adverts on any number of job boards, although be aware that each will cost, so doing so could run up a high recruitment bill.
What are screening questions?
This is a feature an employer can impose on candidates to answer before they submit their application to their job post. This will narrow down the number of applications you receive, ensuring each one suitably meets your criteria set. These questions can be anything from ensuring each applicant has a valid driving license, to if they have a valid UK passport, to about the applicant’s skill set required for the role.
What happens if you have your
own application form that you
need candidates to complete?
You can include an external URL for your own application form, although this is not always recommended. Candidates can be put off finishing applications if the process is long winded or unclear, so if it’s absolutely vital for candidates to use your own application form and not the job boards system try to make sure this is as short and as clear as possible. There is usually an additional cost for using this service and application rates can be noticeably less when employers use this external method.
How do I choose the right job
site for my company?
This is of course through your own choice; assessing your individual recruitment needs alongside which job site can operate to fulfil these best. Obviously pricing will be a key decider in which job board to go with, although most expensive doesn’t always mean best. Try to assess all aspects of the job board; is the main site easy to navigate? Are they constantly receiving high numbers of new candidates? What do other companies say about them? Are their prices justified? Is the customer service good?
