LAN-BUS - use of system

Industrial unmanaged switches and converters LAN-BUS represent an integrated system of devices suitable especially for extensive CCTV and security systems. Overvoltage protections of inputs and outputs enable use of LAN-BUS in both industrial and outdoor environment. When using METEL supply units of SU, ML or TRF series or supplying the switches from 19" racks

RACK/3U there is a 5-year guarantee on switch damage up to the level of printed circuit interruption (see terms and conditions “All Inclusive” Warranty).

MM / SM universal optical ports with WDM

All optical ports on 2G series devices can be universally used for both MM and SM fibers in the range of 9/125µm to 62.5/125µm. Optical ports are equipped with integrated wavelength division multiplexer technology (WDM). The optical ring/connection is then made up of only one SM or MM fiber.

PoE support

All the FE ports of LAN-BUS switches support standard IEEE 802.3af for supplying of end devices up to 15.4W of power.

PoE+ support

FE/GE ports of media converters LAN-BUS support standard IEEE 802.3at-2009 for supplying of end devices up to 25.5W of power.

Overvoltage protections

Every ethernet port and supply input is equipped with overvoltage protection. See the table left below.

Check the table right below whether it is necessary to use additional overvoltage protection of class D according to the IEC 61643-1 standard for all inputs in outdoor environments.

Working temperature –40…+70°C

Every LAN-RING switch is made up of parts with min. temperature range of –40 to +85°C and passive cooling (without ventilators).

Warranty „ALL INCLUSIVE“

“The warranty applies to all defects and faults of the Device(s) caused by excessive voltage except for destructive damages. The damages are not considered destructive if the Device is in such state that it can be repaired by replacement of one or more parts of the Device. The destructive damages are deemed to be damage to printed circuits (interruption of circuit, burnt soldering pads) disallowing repair of the Device unless replacing the printed circuit or using wire crossovers.

In order to obtain this warranty, the following conditions should be met:

1. The Supplier's employees carry out installation inspection with reference to meeting recommended procedures of mounting and setting of converters. After the inspection and removal of eventual defects the Supplier issues a certificate confirming „60 months ALL INCLUSIVE“ guarantee. In case of impossibility of direct inspection for security reasons (hidden obejcts) or for object's inaccessibility it is possible to issue the certificate confirming „60 months ALL INCLUSIVE“ guarantee based on project documentation. The Supplier retains the right not to issue the certificate in case of impossibility of inspection in the location of installation.

2. When installing the Device(s) in lightning protections zones ZBO 0A, ZBO 0B according to EN 62305, the Device(s) shall be fed from the Supplier's power sources with class D overvoltage protections according to IEC61643-1, i.e. TRF-24....H or SU-230/ 4870H. When installing the Device(s) in lightning protections zones ZBO 1, ZBO 2 according to EN 62305, the Device(s) shall be fed from the Supplier's power sources or 19" racks BREAK.

3. When installing the Device(s), the minimum distances between the power and data cables shall be maintained, according to the applicable standards valid at the time of installation.

4. When installing the Device(s) in the outdoor environment IP56 modifications in original Al covers or BOX modifications placed in steel switchboards shall be used. Therefore, the warranty does not apply to Device(s) installed in outdoor environment in plastic cases. Plastic cases may be used only for indoor installations without direct sun rays at the Device(s) and in underground premises, such as mines, hydroelectric –40...to +50°C.

5. The Device(s) shall be earthed according to the applicable standards.

In case of any complaint about damaging the Device(s) by overvoltage, the Supplier has the right to require the Device(s) to be provided with additional overvoltage protections. If the Buyer fails to provide the Device(s) with such protections, only the standard 60-month warranty applies (i.e. the warranty not including the damage to the Device(s) by overvoltage).”

Topology LAN-BUS

Topology LAN-BUS 200Mbps enables, using one MM or SM fiber, interconnection of tens or hundreds of devices (cameras, sensors, PCs,...). When designing a network we recommend:

1. allowing for 20% system reserve, i.e. max. 80Mbps for each direction. The processors used in the devices enable use of LAN-BUS switches and media converters

in systems with video and audio signal transmission (CCTV, VoIP,..).

2. attending to correct interconnection of optical ports. See the pictures below and the table on the following page.
