Hitachi UCP for SAP HANA is a compre-hensive deployment environment for SAP HANA contained within a single enclosure. The combination of enterprise-class storage systems, compute blades and networking components simplifies deployment and helps ensure predictable results. Today, there are two models available, Hitachi UCP 4000 and UCP 6000. UCP 4000 is based on Intel Xeon E7-8880 v2 and the UCP 6000 is based on Intel Xeon E7-8880v3. The solutions combine Hitachi Compute Blade server technology and enterprise-class storage, Hitachi Unified Storage VM (HUS VM) and Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform (VSP), with leading network components from Brocade. The solutions are factory tested and integrated (rack and stack) and shipped from Hitachi data center ready to be deployed in your organization’s environment. With end-to-end hardware and software integration helping to streamline complex tasks, your organization will be able to unlock answers and enable breakthroughs, faster than ever before.

Two deployment models are available for UCP for SAP HANA: scale up and scale out. The scale-up offering is ideal for running SAP Business Suite on SAP HANA, proof of concept, and development and test environ-ments. Scale-up configurations are supported

The processing engine behind Hitachi UCP for SAP HANA is Hitachi Compute Blade, an enterprise-class blade server platform equipped with two Intel Xeon processors E7 family per blade. With features such as symmetric multiprocessing and native logical partitioning commonly found in mainframes, the platform delivers out-standing, enterprise-class performance. Highly cost-effective in terms of capex and opex, Hitachi Compute Blades integrate network, power and server resources into a single, space-efficient, flexible solution. The rack-mountable chassis houses blade modules and provides for I/O versatility with internal switches and connectivity to enterprise solid-state flash storage and persistent data storage.

To scale out, Hitachi UCP for SAP HANA supports up to 48TB of platform memory, which makes it ideal for larger mission- critical SAP HANA implementations. Tables 2 and 4 provide UCP for SAP HANA scale-out specifications. Hitachi is certified for support for up to 56 active nodes (112TB for UCP 4000 and 168TB for UCP 6000) and standby nodes.

ability, availability and serviceability (RAS) features. For reliability, the chassis is fully redundant, including two management modules for redundancy. Each module supports an independent management LAN interface from the data network for remote and secure management of the chassis, and blades and components are hot swappable.

In terms of storage high availability, backup and recovery, the scale-out architecture employs Hitachi NAS Platform (HNAS), Symantec NetBackup and CommVault Simpana. Using HNAS as a staging area provides high speed in system backups (up to 500MB/sec) without performance impact to SAP HANA. Hitachi also supports the SAP HANA Backint API with Symantec NetBackup. This solution provides your company with an option to leverage your existing backup infrastructure to protect against data loss due to failure or corruption. Hitachi solutions for SAP HANA support both synchronous and asynchronous disaster tolerance. The synchronous solu-tion is based on Hitachi TrueCopy and the asynchronous option is supported with Hitachi Universal Replicator (HUR). The Hitachi storage replication software delivers 24/7 mission-critical access to the SAP HANA platform if the primary SAP HANA system becomes unavailable.
