Literacy Night Coming Soon!

Each winter Midway Elementary holds its Annual Literacy Night. While this year may look a little different, we are excited to still offer an event that is

sure to spark the reading spirit! Literacy Night will be held virtually on Thursday, December 10th. Stay

tuned for more information to be shared this coming week!

Drop-off and Pick Up Information

Each morning car riders will enter through the school’s main entrance and drop-off at the 3rd set of

doors. Students can enter the building beginning at 7:00 am, and school will start promptly at 7:30. Students who arrive after this time will be marked

tardy. Dismissal will take place at 2:30 pm with students exiting the same doors. Please make sure to have your car tag visible on the right side of your dash at pick up. If you do not have your tag you will

be asked to park and come in.

Learning Option Change

Please check the homepage of our school website, as well as our Facebook page, for a link to the 4 ½ week interim period learning option change request.

The option change form must be completed by 9:00 pm on Wednesday, December 2nd. A separate form

is required for each student, including siblings. Parents will be notified of your child’s start date. If

you have any questions please contact the school.

Letterland Day

On Friday, October 30th Kindergarten through 2nd grade classes celebrated Letterland Day. Students have been using

the Letterland program to build and support their phonetic knowledge. Teachers and students celebrated their hard

work by dressing as their favorite Letterland character.

New Teacher FEATURE

We would like to extend a huge Bobcat welcome to Ms. Grace Smith,

who is new to the Midway family. Ms. Smith joined the third grade team this year and has been a true

asset to our staff. At anytime you can find her class expanding their love of reading and writing while creating memories that will make

BDK Teacher of the Year

Midway would like to congratulate Mr. Hawes, our music teacher, on

being nominated Baron Dekalb’s 2020-21 Teacher of the Year. Mr.

Hawes is dedicated to promoting the arts at both MDW and BDK. The

Bobcats join in the celebration of this fine educator. Make sure to offer a congratulations next time

Virtual Winter MAP Testing

Virtual students will complete Winter MAP testing on the dates listed below. Students will need to eat breakfast or lunch before

they come for testing. They will need to bring a charged chromebook, a book, mask and a snack/water bottle if they would like. Students will take two tests - reading and math.

Temperatures will be taken as students arrive. Please look for your child’s teacher to send out sign up

information soon.

3rd Grade (Gullard)- Thursday, 12/3 8:30-10:30 or 11:30-1:30 4th Grade (Inabinet)-Friday, 12/4 8:30-10:30 or 11:30-1:30 5th Grade (D Hayes)-Monday, 12/7 8:30-10:30 or 11:30-1:30
