Stage 1: Viewing/retrieving information (reopened)

Stage 2: Application of losses and estimation

Stage 3: Design for viewing/retrieving information (reopened)

2. Testing (June 2014 – April 2015)

Market Participant Readiness Testing: Mar/Apr 2015 3. Implementation (Q2 - 2015)

Approach and Timing

Stage discussed

(4)

Background

• The MV-WEB system will be replaced with the Meter Data Distribution for participants solution.

• The IESO will automatically push the data in report form in the new system, similar to the current presentation of documents such as settlement statements in the IESO Confidential Reports site.

• With the new report publishing solution, participants will be able to specify the reports they need and download the

associated data when it is published.

(5)

Background

• The IESO will continue to provide the existing EDI format for all reports. Note: CSV text format will not be provided.

• As a result of participant feedback, the IESO will provide ad-hoc meter data reports upon request, for trade dates within the latest 90 calendar days. Note: details for ad-hoc requests for trade

(6)

Online IESO

• In the proposed new system, participants will add and manage their own contacts through the Online IESO tool.

• The IESO launched this tool in September 2013 to automate certain registration requests, including:

– Registering and updating contacts online – Requesting system access

– Updating and viewing information for each company – Registering revenue meters

• In the near future, Online IESO will allow participants to maintain facility registrations.

• More information about Online IESO can be found at

http://www.ieso.ca/Pages/Participate/Registration/Registration-System.aspx

(7)

Online IESO Contact Roles

In Online IESO, an organization’s:

Applicant Representative is responsible for managing participation contacts at your organization using the ‘Update Organization’

action in Online IESO.

Rights Administrator will continue to be responsible for managing machine (API) accounts for your organization. They will use the ‘Manage System Access’ action in Online IESO to register API accounts and assign the appropriate access role(s).

Revenue Meter Data Contact will be a new participation contact role that will be automatically granted access to the IESO Reports

(8)

Revenue Meter Data Contact

• IESO will not be migrating existing MV-WEB users to the new Revenue Meter Data Contact role.

• Prior to the new MDM system go-live, the Applicant

Representative within each organization will need to assign one or more Revenue Meter Data Contact using the “Update

Organization” action in Online IESO.

• A communication will be issued to all Applicant Representatives requesting that they complete this task once the new Revenue Meter Data Contact role is available in Online IESO.

(9)

Meter Data Associations

• The “Associations” function in MV-WEB allows participants to assign access to their Delivery Point data to another participant.

• In the new system, the “Associations” role will be replaced with a new Meter Data Associate (MDA) relationship at a Delivery Point.

• Existing active MV-WEB Associations for registered

organizations will be automatically migrated to CDMS as MDA relationships when the new MDM system goes live.

(10)

Meter Data Associate Participation

• Organizations that intend to be assigned as an MDA for a Delivery Point, including organizations that are currently recipients of MV-WEB “Associations”, must go through the “Manage Participation” process in Online IESO to become authorized as a Meter Data

Associate (MDA).

• Prior to the new MDM system go-live, each organization’s

Applicant Representative will need to register their organization as an MDA participant using the “Manage Participation” action in Online IESO.

• A communication will be issued to all Applicant Representatives requesting that they complete this task once the new MDA

Participation is available in Online IESO.

(11)

Managing MDA Relationships

• In the future, an organization’s Applicant Representative will be able to manage MDA relationships for Delivery Points through Online IESO as part of the Facility Registration Automation project.

• Before this functionality is available in Online IESO, Participants will be required to submit requests for creating MDA

relationships using modified Form 1300 (for energy Delivery Points) and Form 1304 (for transmission Delivery Points)

(12)

Meter Data Profiles

• Meter Data Profiles will allow participants to personalize the data they receive through the IESO Reports site, including:

– Totalized Delivery Point Data (with Losses or without Losses) – Totalized Summary Meter Data (with Losses or without Losses) – Totalized Meter Point Data (with Losses or without Losses)

– Validated Meter Point Data

* Compliance Aggregation/Meter Disaggregation Note:

Totalized Summary Meter Data will include Ratio Meters Totalized Meter Point Data will include Dispatch Instructions • One Meter Data Profile will be provided for each eligible

participation (formerly known as roles) for each organization, as illustrated on the next slide.

(13)

Meter Data Profiles, cont.

• Meter Data Profiles will be available for the following participations:

Participation Name Meter Data Profile Type

Distributor-Metered Market Participant Generator-Metered Market Participant Load-Metered Market Participant

(14)

Meter Data Profiles, cont.

• Meter Data Profiles will not be assigned by default.

• Prior to the new MDM system go-live, each organization’s Revenue Metering Data Contacts will need to create Meter Data Profiles in Online IESO.

• In the future, Revenue Metering Data Contacts will be able to manage Meter Data Profiles through Online IESO.

• A communication will be issued to all Revenue Metering Data Contacts once the new Meter Data Profiles action is available in Online IESO.

• Participants will also be able to test Meter Data Profiles through Online IESO during Market TrialsTesting.

(15)
(16)

Meter Data Ad-hoc Requests

• Revenue Meter Data Contacts will be able to submit ad-hoc data requests through Online IESO.

• Meter data for an Ad-hoc request within 90 calendar days of the trade date will be available on the IESO Reports site one

calendar day after the request date.

• Meter data for Ad-hoc requests beyond 90 calendar days of the trade date will be available on the IESO Reports site within a to-be defined time period after the request date.

• Participants will be able to test Meter Data Ad-hoc Requests through Online IESO during Market Participant Readiness Testing.

(17)
(18)

New IESO Reports Site

• The IESO Reports Site is currently under technical refresh with a Planned in-service date of June 2015.

• Meter Data Reports will be published to the new IESO Reports Site to minimize the transition impacts for participants and

leverage the following new features:

– New web-based user interface to retrieve reports

– New API interface and Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) access method to automate report download

(19)

IESO Reports Site, cont.

Participants will be able to test their machine (API) and user

interfaces through the new IESO Reports Sandbox Site

during Market Participant Readiness Testing.

More information on the Reports Site Refresh can be found at

(20)

Meter Data Reports Compression

• In the new system, the IESO will compress EDI data files into ZIP format in order to:

– use storage space more efficiently (e.g. a 100 MB EDI file becomes 10 MB after compression)

– save network bandwidth and speed up downloading and transferring files

– reduce the risk of corruption during transferring and downloading

– combine several data files into a single compressed file (e.g. one compressed file contains multiple Ad-hoc requests on same trade date).

(21)

Meter Data Reports Overview

• The IESO will publish the following Meter Data Reports as Confidential Reports on the IESO Reports site:

– Monthly LDC AQEW AQEI – Validated Meter Data (VMD)

– Totalized Meter Data With Losses (TMD-WL)

– Totalized Meter Data Without Losses (TMD-WOL) – Ad-Hoc Meter Data Requests (MD-AD-HOC)

• The VMD, TMD-WL and TMD-WOL reports will be made

available on the Reports site based on the organization’s Meter Data Profile(s) and the assigned participation(s) (i.e.
