Reflections :
Some Facebook Posts from Fr. Tomasz
On the feast day of St. Oscar Romero I pray the church stands against injustice that comes
from without and from within. :)
Jesus spoke for the voiceless and became a voice of love for all who were rejected. This is
the Church I believe in. :)
Today is the second day of spring and it means that after the winter, new life is to blossom. :)
If God is love, God is love no matter what prejudice we create as human beings. :)
I am inspired by the fact that we are all created in God’s image. :)
I stand with the LGBTQ Community. I pray we feel in our hearts that God loves all of us and
wishes to bless all of us. :)
The Empty Tomb
A few years ago my family and I had the opportunity to go to the Mammoth Caves in Kentucky. As we traveled down into the cave, I was filled with both a sense of calm and of anxiety. I knew we would be alright, as long as the bats remained out of sight, but there was something about traveling into the depths of the earth that was unsettling. It was both beautiful and frightening. There was much unknown, but also much to anticipate.
I think that must have been the feeling that the women who first discovered the empty tomb that Easter morning must have felt. A sense of both fear, excitement, confusion and anticipation. Could he really have risen from the dead as he said?
The image of an empty tomb always fascinates me. A place for the dead immediately became a symbol for eternal life. Much like the cross, the empty tomb reminds us that death does not have the final say, God has the final say. The great victory that Jesus won for you and me, and for the whole world. The empty tomb changes everything.
This Easter, I invite you and your family to take time to quietly reflect on the image of the stone rolled away. Look inside and see the burial cloths. See where they laid him that sorrowful Friday evening. Smell the flowers of the garden and be startled by the presence of the angel. Hear his voice as he says to you, “Do not be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here.”
Jesus left the tomb behind and destroyed death forever. Now he wishes to live and dwell in our hearts. This Easter may He, the first born from the dead, come and dwell in our hearts and our homes. And we who are blessed by our Father, leave behind our tombs and live in the promise of the resurrection.
Happy Easter!
God Bless!
Deacon Chris
“Do not be amazed! You seek Jesus of Naza-reth, the crucified. He has been raised; He is
not here. Behold the place where they laid Him. But go and tell his disciples and Peter, “He is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him, as he told you.” (Mark 16: 1-7)

Parish Ministry: Outreach Program at Interfaith Hospitality Network: Homeless Shelter for
Families in Worcester
St Patrick’s is one of a number of faith communities/congregations in the Worcester area that support the IHN: Homeless Shelter for Families with food/supplies, night supervision at the home and financially. St. Patrick’s has two weeks a year (April 11-17, Oct 31 - Nov 6) that we provide night supervision at the home on June Street along with the meals for the families. We ask for your support in the following ways:
1. Volunteer to work one of the night and/or overnight shifts providing supervision and support to the families.
2. Volunteer to make a dinner for one of the evenings that our parish supervises the shelter, the meals need to feed six families approximately 20 people.
3. Financially made a donation to the shelter – our parish has made a commitment to raise $2,250 annually to support the expenses of the home: utilities, food, maintenance, etc.
4. Provide household supplies needed at the home which can be dropped-off at the rectory: cleaning supplies, paper goods, non-perishable food, grocery gift cards.
5. Pray that the members of St Patrick’s working in this ministry will be the ‘face of Jesus’ to the families in this shelter as these families work to get back on their feet emotionally, spiritually and financially.
If you have any questions or are looking to be part of this ministry in any way, please contact Gracia Casey at [email protected] or Fred Beauregard at [email protected]
Our Lady of the Valley Regional School Update
Welcome to the OLV update, a biweekly entry to your parish bulletin. Here we will post news and information regarding Our Lady of the Valley Regional School, the wonderful Catholic elementary school in the Blackstone Valley, sponsored and supported by Good Shepherd Parish, St. Mary Parish, St. Patrick Parish and St. Peter Parish. We are blessed to have your prayers and support!
At Our Lady of the Valley, we are looking forward to the Easter weekend. For these holy days, classes will not be in session on Holy Thursday, Good Friday nor Easter Monday. We expect that these days of school closure will allow families, teachers and staff the opportunity to attend services either in person or virtually. We are extremely grateful for all that our parishes have done for our community to worship during these challenging times. At OLV, not only have students attended in person classes consistently, but also they have celebrated Masses with their classmates. We are truly blessed for these opportunities.
In addition to our class work and Lenten observances and almsgivings, we celebrated March Madness in a variety of ways at OLV, and we are grateful for our teachers and parents who organized these events. Included this month were Crazy Hats and Socks Day saluting Dr. Seuss; Blow Off STEAM Day with various STEM activities; Wearing of the Green on St. Patrick's Day; Movie Day with popcorn; and Luau Day to say aloha to April. Also, our Parents Guild organized an Easter Egg Decorating event that resulted in a tremendous number of creatively and beautifully decorated eggs. It has been a fun filled and spirited time at OLV!
Thank you for your continued prayers, friendship and support! Please continue to spread the word about Our Lady of the Valley Re-gional School and the wonderful things happening at our school. Please follow our Facebook page at Our Lady of the Valley ReRe-gional School and share the updates with family and friends.

The Sacred That Surrounds Us –How Everything in a Catholic Church Points to Heaven
*
(What’s What Explanation of What Surrounds Us In Our Church)
Tabernacle
The tabernacle, from the Latin tabernaculum (meaning “tent”), is the little house in the sanctuary where Jesus resides sacramentally—Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity—in each consecrated Host. Any consecrated Hosts re-maining after Holy Communion are stored in the tabernacle, which is normally locked to protect the precious gift of Jesus inside. The tabernacle is preferably in the center of the sanctuary. There is a special candle in a holder near the tabernacle called the sanctuary lamp that remains lit when Jesus is present inside.
After Christianity became legal in the fourth century, the Eucharist began to be stored in tabernacles that were located in various rooms, even the sacristy. However, we know from many early writings that Christians have always been careful to protect Jesus present in the Eucharist, even before the tabernacle was constructed. After the tabernacle moved into the sanctuary, it was placed on the altar, which is not customary anymore. Today, you will usually find the tabernacle in the sanctuary locked and im-movable. Nothing is allowed to rest upon the tabernacle and nothing is allowed inside the tabernacle except for the sacred vessels that contain our Lord.
We were created for relationship: relationship with each other and relationship with God. We can remem-ber Moses commissioning the taremem-bernacle to be built to house the Ark and the Covenant. The taremem-bernacle in the Old Testament was the dwelling place of God. When you wish to be in the presence of God, you can look no further than the Catholic Church. The real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist is not new; in fact, it is as an-cient as the Church. The first tabernacle that held the presence of Jesus was Mary, who is often called the Ark of the New Covenant. Elizabeth and the unborn John in her womb had so much joy when they were in the presence of God. Do you experience joy when you come to church and Jesus is in our midst? Our relation-ship to each other and with God can both be strengthened by coming to Mass.
