Manager Express can in most cases be reconfigured to become the gateway router for a Communications Manager solution through a simple firmware upgrade. Because of this flexible customisation the investment for successful companies which exceed their existing capacity can be preserved.

Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express and Cisco Unity Express deliver rich voice and unified communications capabilities on a Cisco integrated services router (ISR) platform. Data networking, video, wireless LAN, and security, including VPN and firewall, can be enabled on the same platform. Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express and Cisco Unity Express are well suited to businesses with 30 to 200 employees. Cisco ISRs are simple to deploy and manage, with high reliability to ensure continuous operation. The many features of Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express include:

For added resiliency, businesses can use the Hot Standby Routing Protocol (HSRP) between two different Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express routers or use Cisco Unified Survivable Remote Site Telephony (SRST) on one of the routers.

Support of IP telephony

Cisco UC Manager Express supports between 8 and 240 IP Phones. Table 1 gives an overview of the number of IP phones that each router platform, running Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express, can support.

To maximise the level of re-usability during upgrade it is possible to migrate the Communications Manager Express to support a Cisco Unified Communications Manager, this is possible due to their shared foundations and operating systems. The Cisco Unified Communications

Unified Communications 500

For organisations with 8 to 48 employees the Cisco Unified Communications 500 series is a cost-effective, integrated Unified Communications solution. The systems consists of voice mail, an auto attendant, video support, VPN and wireless capabilities. Moreover, the system can be integrated with existing desktop systems such as a diary, e-mail and CRM software. The system offers corporate Unified Communications technology for small and medium businesses and can be adapted easily to meet changing business needs.

The basic system consists of the following components:

Cisco Unity Express (voice mail and auto attendant) •

Eight Power over Ethernet ports integrated •

Expandable with the Cisco Catalyst 520 series switches •

Security, firewall and VPN functionality •

Optional WLAN •

GUI-based configuration assistant •

The basic configuration of the Cisco UC500 consists of 8 switched Power over Ethernet connections (PoE), 4 FXS ports for connecting analogue devices with either 2 ISDN ports or 4 FXO ports. Moreover, it is possible to expand the system at a later time with a Voice Interface Card for additional analogue or ISDN ports. Voicemail functionality, audio connection for music on-hold music, an Ethernet uplink port for WAN and a console are all included. For connecting more than 8 devices, the basic configuration can be extended through an additional ethernet up-link by using 8 or 24 port Cisco UC Companion switches. The variance licensed for 8 or 16 users are desktop units. Which can optionally be incorporated into a 19“ racking system. The various licensed for 8 or 16 usrs are desktop units with can optionally include a built in Wireless LAN Access point or can be incorporated into a 19“ racking system.

Cisco Unified Communications Manager

The Cisco Unified Communications Manager facilitates phone system functionality and supports PC applications (such as Cisco Unified CallConnector & Attendant Console), VoIP gateways, IP phones and multimedia applications within an enterprise office. Other services such as Unified Messaging, Multimedia Conferencing, Contact Center and interactive Auto Attendant are fully supported.

The product consists of a complete communications and service package, including the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Bulk Administration Tool, Cisco Communications Manager CDR (call data registration) Analysis and Reporting Tools, Cisco Unified Communication Manager Real-Time Monitoring Tools and the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Assistant application.

Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Business Edition is suitable for medium-sized companies with up to 500 employees and 20 remote sites. This solution integrates voice, video, mobility and messaging services through a single platform. Until recently a separate server was required for each application. Business Edition brings all these applications together on a single server. This provides significant cost savings for installation, support and maintenance of the system, thus substantially reducing the total cost of ownership. With the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Business Edition medium-sized companies can now easily and cost-effectively implement Enterprise phone communication systems and applications at headquarters and branches.

The Cisco Unified Communications Manager increases the communication capabilities of packed oriented devices like IP phones, Voice-over-IP (VoIP) gateways and, interactive multimedia applications. Business Edition improves the productivity and mobility of employees through, “single number reach“ and a voice mail box, which filters and transmits messages intelligently to mobile employees through IP or mobile phones.

Additionally Business Edition offers applications such as, a the Bulk Administration Tool, CDR Analysis (call data registration) and Reporting Tool, Real-Time Monitoring Tool and Cisco Unified Communications Manager Assistant.

Cisco Unity Connection incorporates integrated messaging, voice recognition and automated call-routing into a single system. Messaging and voice components are linked to the data network in a transparent way, enabling any time any place access to calls and messages. These advanced communication services make use of the converged network. Voice mail messages can be viewed and heard from the E-mail inbox or through a proprietary Web browser. Advanced Automated Attendant functionalities make use of intelligent routing, allowing call screening by enabling messages to be heard as they are recorded.

Cisco Unity Connection Release 2.0 is the voicemail software that is part of the Cisco Unified Communications Manager software.
