Coordinated Research Projects

CRPs are initiated by IAEA scientific experts following advice and

suggestions of “consultants” who participate in a Consultant’s

Meeting

A proposal is formed and submitted for approval to the Committee

for Coordinated Research Activities

After approval a Project Officer is designated and a call for

research contracts and agreement proposals follows

Once the evaluation and selection of proposals is completed the

IAEA PO collaborates with Chief Scientific Investigators from the

different research institutes involved in order to develop and

manage the research programme

Duration is normally 4 to 5 years

International Network of Nuclear Structure and

Decay Data Evaluators (NSDD)

International Network of Data

Centres with the task of

evaluating nuclear structure and

decay properties of all nuclides

with a given mass chain number A

Evaluated data include:

disintegration energies, radiation

and transition probabilities, nuclear

level schemes, excitation energies,

half-lives, decay modes, spin-parity

values, magnetic and electric

multipole moments, and nuclear

band structure

The evaluated mass chains form

the Evaluated Nuclear Structure

Data File which is hosted and

managed at

http://www.nndc.bnl.gov/ensdf/

Masterfile available also at

http://www-nds.iaea.org

A-chain evaluations are published

in Nuclear Data Sheets

Unevaluated nuclear structure

and decay data are compiled in the

ENSDF format in the XUNDL

database

http://www.nndc.bnl.gov/xundl/

Training Workshops

The primary objective of the ICTP-hosted

workshop was to familiarize nuclear physicists and

engineers from both developed and developing

countries with

modern nuclear models;

relevant experimental techniques;

statistical analyses procedures to derive recommended

data sets;

evaluation methodologies for nuclear structure and

decay data;

international efforts to produce the Evaluated Nuclear

Structure Data File (ENSDF)
