Executive Summary

Powered by the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, Social and Collaborative Apps provide a comprehensive set of magical user experiences to enterprise users across the whole product lifecycle. It applies from product planners, designers and program managers to manufacturing planners, purchasing agents,

suppliers as well as compliancy managers that allow them to collaborate with each other in the overall context of the product data.

The 3DSpace provides the security for data and also helps designers to provide constrained access to the members along with suitable rights as per the roles they play in the organization.

3DSpace allows creating and managing Collaborative Spaces that are dedicated to content storage and collaboration on content.

This White Paper will give you the introductory information on 3DSpace as well as its applicative needs and essentials.

1. Inviting Members to the Platform

Initially, the Platform Administrator sends an invitation to the member whom he wants to add through the Platform Management tool.

The Platform administrator invites the member by adding email address in ‘Processes & Apps’ tab of the Platform Management tool. Then system sends email invitation to respective members.

The member receives a mail request in his mail box where he needs to accept the request and sign in by using user credentials. Here, by clicking on “sign in here” user can login to

3DEXPERIENCE Platform. The following image displays a sample invitation.

After signing in now User can explore 3DEXPERIENCE platform. To explore 3DSpace, user needs to visit North quadrant.

2. 3DSpace Capabilities

3DSpace provides the following capabilities:

 Collaborative Space creation

 Collaborative Space properties

 Inviting members to Collaborative Spaces

 Content management in Collaborative Spaces Let’s detail each of the above capabilities:

2.1.

Collaborative Space creation

A collaborative Space is an object in the platform which is managed by 3DSpace App. The content is saved in the collaborative Space. You can create Collaborative Spaces to share content with other members.

To create Collaborative Space;

 In the Top Bar, select “+” sign, inside it you will find ‘Collaborative Space’, and then click on Create option.

(7)

 The “Create a new Collaborative Space” dialog box appears. The following image displays the “Create a new Collaborative Space” dialog box

 According to requirement for which Collaborative Space is being created, enter the following details:

o Title: It represents name of your Collaborative Space.

o Description: It gives information about your Collaborative Space. This is an optional field.

o Visibility: Three types of visibility are available:  Private: Content Visible by members only.

 Protected: Content with maturity ’Design Released’ or ‘Obsolete Design’ visible by all users.

 Public: Content visible to all users. o Family:

We get two options in this field, Design and Standard. Let’s take a deeper look at each of them:

 Design:

Content is considered as design content when the content belongs to a Design collaborative space. Unlike standard content, design content for example is typically not included in Part catalogs.

Design Collaborative spaces can be Public, Protected or Private.

 Standard:

Content is considered as standard content when the content belongs to a standard collaborative space. Standard content is typically catalog parts.

After clicking Create, the Collaborative Space is created and 3DSpace Widget gets loaded. On this page, you can perform different administrative activities for current Collaborative Space: e.g. visibility change, adding members, assigning access, content management etc. The following image displays a ‘3DSpace App page’.

2.2.

Inviting People to Collaborative Spaces

You must be the Owner of the Collaborative Space to able to add members. Let’s see how we can add members:

 In the 3DSpace - Members widget, enter name of user. If the user exists as member of this 3DEXPERIENCE Platform, his full name will be prompted. Select this name.

 In the drop-down list, select among the available roles below:

o Contributor-A contributor can only view and add his comments on content. o Author-An author can create and edit content.

o Leader –A leader can create, edit and can manage content. Note: The Owner role is automatically activated when the Leader is selected.

 Click ‘Add Member’ button and member will get added to current Collaborative Space. This member now appears in the 3DSpace - Members widget.

Following is the detailed explanation of the rights that various roles have:

 OWNER:

The Owner has the principal responsibility of administering roles and assigning persons to projects under his responsibility.

The Owner cannot perform the same tasks as the Leader. The Owner can modify existing RELEASED, IN_WORK and FROZEN content for the same categories belonging to the current collaborative space only. Owner can modify but not create and propagate new content.

 LEADER:

The Leader can change content organization ownership, delete IN_WORK/PRIVATE content.

He can export or import 3DXML content and can release it.

Also, he renders obsolete or removes FROZEN content. He can duplicate existing content and synchronizes Product Structure -> EBOM and EBOM -> Product Structure.

 CONTRIBUTOR:

The contributor cannot modify a design but has the right to evaluate it. He can manage any review and simulation content of the collaborative space of which the Contributor is a member.

 AUTHOR:

The Author defines the technical solution (RFLP, PPR), and can search, modify, delete, version, and promote collaborative space content. He can delete IN_WORK content. Also, he can duplicate and can freeze IN_WORK content and unfreeze FROZEN content.

3. Application of Collaborative Space in Design Industry:

A platform Administrator creates a 3DSpace for his designers.

The Administrator adds a design engineer a member to the 3DSpace.

The Design Engineer (Owner) creates a collaborative Space and adds 3 more assistant design engineers (Author).

The Design Engineer uploads a data so that the Assistant engineers can work on the data and make 3 different proposals for further design purpose.

The Assistant engineers login to rich client and work further on the uploaded data.

The Assistant engineers create 3 duplicates of the uploaded data so that the uploaded data remains intact and create 3 different proposals by making modifications in the duplicated data.

The Design engineer chooses one of the proposals and creates a version of the parent uploaded data.

Thus, the uploaded data remains unmodified and Assistant engineers work independently. Also, the final version can be compared with the uploaded data asand when required.
