What  is  Project  Por)olio  Management?

Project  Por)olio  Management  (PPM)  is  a  method  used  by  project  managers  and  project  management

Assigning  the  right  resources   to  the  right  jobs  at  the  right  ;me  —  in  other   words,  alignment   —  is  the  ul;mate   goal  of   project  governance.  An  organiza;on’s  strategy,  opera;onal  efficiency,  execu;on  process,  and  technical   exper;se   are  all  tested  when   resource   assignments  are  made.  Portfolios,  programs,  and   projects   are  all  formal   expressions  of   resource  assignment   decisions.  Accordingly,   a   systema;c  approach  to  collec;ng,  selec;ng,

Confused  about

the

right  PPM

product

for

your

organizaCon?

Infolob’s  PPM  solu;on  provides  its   customers  with  the  right  advise  when  it   comes  to  selec;ng  and

implemen;ng  PPM  software.  We  use  a  tried  and  tested   product   func;onality  assessment  matrix,  keeping   in  mind   your  organiza;on’s  specific  needs.   The  below   are   generic   dimensions  we  use   to   measure  the   PPM  product   you're  considering:

Process  Maturity  –  how  formal/strong  is  your  process?

ExisCng  Enterprise  ApplicaCons  –  If  you  are  already  running  an  Oracle  EBS  or  MicrosoV  AX  it  perhaps  makes

sense  to  look  at  PPM  products  offered  by  your  Enterprise  soVware  vendor  because  integra;on  with  your  project   accoun;ng  soVware  would  be  out  of  the  box  and  no  special  efforts  would  be  needed.

Management  Approach  –  Do  you  and  your  team  follow  a  tradi;onal  or  agile  approach  to  project  management?

ImplementaCon  Model  –  Will  you  host  the  product  on  premise  and  support  it  by  yourself?  Or  are  you  going  to

adopt  the  SoVware  as  a  Service  (SaaS)  model?

Industry  PracCce  –  What  soVware  do  other  companies  in  your  ver;cal  use  to  manage  their  projects  and  por)olios?

Budget  –  What  is  your  budget  for  installa;on,  implementa;on,  training,  and  maintenance?

•  Simple:  Are  you  going  to  organize  your  projects?

•  Personal:  Are  you  going  to  automate  es;ma;on  and

planning  on  you  projects?

•  Collabora;ve:  Are  you  going  to  support  a  team?  Are

you  going  to  share  informa;on?  Do  you  need  to   centralize  team  communica;ons?

•  Enterprise:  Are  you  affec;ng  the  whole  company?  Are

you  going  to  bill  to  your  clients  using  your  projects’   data?  Do  you  have  virtual  teams  all  around  the  globe?

Scale  –  how  big  will  the  change  be?

•  Chao;c:  No  evidence  of  documented  processes  or

best  prac;ces

•  Ac;ve:  Documented  processes  carried  out,  but  not

formalized

•  Efficient:  Consistent  discipline  started

•  Responsive:  Ubiquitous  and  measured  Business

driven:  Provides  data  and  informa;on  to  drive   business  decisions
