CSM BI Data Migration Technical Lead Full Time, Fixed Term (24 months) Grade G: £36,309 - £45,954 per annum
An opportunity has arisen to join the IT and Media Services (ITMS) Directorate, you will be working with the CSM Business Intelligence and Business Process teams at an exciting time of investment and modernisation at DMU.
The Technical Lead works within the CSM BI project team and provides leadership and coordination of all technical aspects of systems development activities required to provide a productive and efficient system.
Responsible for the data migration activity from De Montfort University’s (DMU’s) legacy systems into target core system, as part of the Core System Modernisation Programme. You will be leading a team of Data Analysts and developers to create a stable and scalable platform for Data Transformation.
You must have extensive Data Warehouse and BI experience, in depth experience of working in a Project Management and Data Migration environment; extensive experience in ETL workbenches; experience in following Data Governance, Processes and Protocols as well as Business Intelligence.
You must be able to demonstrate good communication skills and an ability to present clearly and concisely to a variety of audiences, along with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with stakeholders at all levels in an often pressured, high profile environment.

Overall purpose
of the role
To be responsible for the data migration activity from De Montfort University’s (DMU’s) legacy systems into target core systems as part of the Core System Modernisation Programme. Leading a team of Data Analysts and developers to create a stable and scalable platform for Data Transformation.
The Universities core resource systems (Student Records, Finance, and HR) which are made up of many legacy systems provided by multiple vendors are now causing significant issues. The Core Systems Modernisation (CSM) aims to address these issues.
The core of the CSM programme is targeted at creating a change in efficiency and effectiveness of the core resource management across the University.
Main duties and
responsibilities
1. Lead the design and implement an ETL Framework for Data Migration, adhering to industry best practice and our architectural standards.
2. Define and implement coding standards, documentation standards and version control, ensuring that all migration development activity confirms to these standards 3. Direct development activity to ensure that migration development goals are delivered
on time and within budget
4. Remove technical impediments to development, escalating to the Project Manager where required
5. Conduct regular reviews with ETL Developers and Data Migration Analysts, giving feedback and ensuring quality standards are upheld.
6. Responsibility for software quality through test-driven development and adherence to our Quality Assurance standards, working closely with the Quality Assurance team. To sign off unit testing and ensure that QA testing defects are resolved in a timely manner
7. Work closely with the Business Analyst Lead, Data Governance Lead and Project Manager to ensure data mapping and data quality are implemented correctly to business requirements
8. Responsible for providing estimates, project planning, project risk identification and mitigation action planning with the Project Manager
9. Provide regular development status updates, discussing high priority cases immediately with the Project Manager and assist with attrition management 10. To be a Data Migration technical expert. Helping to build a strong and effective

12. Engage with all other stakeholders to continuously look at pragmatic ways that inter-team working can be improved by sharing information, knowledge and best practice. Identify and suggest solutions to any process gaps that appear and help build a collaborative culture based on transparency, openness and trust.
13. Ensure compliance with corporate standards for information systems, security and technology are in line with relevant legislation and audit requirements
14. Remain innovative and stay abreast of all relevant industry and technological developments in the market place and provide advice to the Data Migration Project Manager on how to take advantage of these to support the development of initiatives that deliver programme objectives.
15. Take responsibility for ensuring that the university’s strategic equality plans are in place and provide regular reports on progress.
