ELECTIVES IN

INTERNATIONAL

BUSINESS

The UNB Saint John MBA program partners with schools in China and Europe to deliver the required European or Chinese study abroad option.

SEIZE A WORLD OF BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY

In Module 4, students can choose to take a number of electives that focus on International Business. Students who choose these electives will undertake European studies in France or Asian studies in China. The North American electives will be taught at UNB Saint John. The international experience goes beyond the textbook and the case manual, and is lived every day through a focus on international business. You will learn about business in Asia, Europe, and North America while living in the marketplace. Sample course electives include International Finance and International Marketing.

(18)

Project management is one of the fastest growing areas of employment in North America and appeals particularly to individuals with backgrounds in engineering, operations, and technology. Students who choose electives that focus on Project Management will be able to take advantage of many partnerships in the community including the New Brunswick chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI).

These electives examine the methodology and best practices for project management and are taught by faculty who combine in-depth knowledge with wide experience in project management. The program is capped off with a business-consulting project where you implement the skills learned during the MBA. The work experience counts as project management experience for your PMP or CAPM certification application through the Project Management Institute. Sample electives in this area include Logistics and Supply Chain Management and Project Management Monitoring and Control.

The research option allows you to explore the most recent challenges in business through literature reviews and primary research. After completing nine foundation courses, students taking the research option will choose courses relevant to their area of focus and complete a report under the guidance of their faculty supervisor.

You will receive guidance and advice from faculty in choosing the options that suit you best. MBA staff can help build realistic expectations and assist in finding a faculty supervisor. You will emerge from the program equipped to pursue your own objectives without the limitations of a “one-size-fits-all” educational experience.

UNB Saint John recognizes it takes a combination of hard work and finances to make your dream of studying an MBA a reality – that is why we offer a limited number of merit awards designed to reward students who demonstrate significant academic strength. Regardless of your background, work experience, or financial need, if you are a bright student with strong undergraduate results and/or a superior GMAT score, we want to reward you! At UNB Saint John, we believe all students should have the same opportunities; therefore, our merit awards are open to both international and domestic students equally.

Our largest merit award of $10,000 can represent over 50% of your tuition, and is unique among Canadian universities. We award, on average, $280,000 CAN to approximately 40% of our incoming class.

To be considered for an award, you must provide your completed MBA application by May 31. Awards are assessed according to your Graduate Management Admission test (GMAT) score and Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA), as follows:

• GMAT 660: Eligible for a $10,000 merit award

• 3.7 CGPA and/or GMAT 600: Eligible for a $4,000 merit award
