SCHOOLCRAFT COLLEGE

Equivalency Table 2012-2013

This equivalency table is intended as a guide for those students who plan to transfer to The University of

Michigan-Dearborn. (A companion curriculum guide which outlines distribution and prerequisite

requirements for your specific major will support this document in the transfer process. Those guides are

available at your community college counseling office or at the UM-Dearborn Admissions Office).

In using this equivalency table students should be aware of the following:

• Exact Equivalent - the exact UM-Dearborn course number will be noted when appropriate

• Lower Distribution – course can be used to meet distribution requirements if appropriate

• General Credit – course will transfer but will not meet distribution requirements

• No Credit – course does not transfer

• Petition – course needs to be petitioned for credit

N

OTE

:

1. Applied art, applied music, music theory, speech and theater courses will not fulfill

distribution requirements at UM-Dearborn. A maximum of 12 credit hours of transfer

coursework in applied art, applied music and/or music theory can be counted toward the

minimum 120 credit hours required for graduation. Any course with the grade of C- or

below will not be accepted by The University of Michigan-Dearborn.

2. Students admitted to the Bachelor of General Studies 2+2 Program in the College of Arts,

Sciences and Letters (having previously completed an Associate degree) will be eligible to

have all coursework (up to a maximum of 62 credit hours) transfer and count toward the

minimum 120 semester hours required for the degree. Courses (those designated “NC” on the

equivalency table) that would not normally transfer toward a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of

Science program will transfer as “program general credit” and essentially count as lower

level elective credit in the Bachelor of General Studies program only.

All students are required to take an English Placement Exam. For those students who do not place at

our Composition 105 level, Composition 227 will be required.

It is the student's responsibility to keep in yearly contact with the UM-Dearborn Admissions Office

(313-593-5100) to stay uabreast with any changes made to the curriculum guides or equivalency

table.

In order to be considered for admission, an application, all required transcripts and documentation,

and the application fee if applicable must be submitted to the Office of Admissions and Orientation by

the first day of class of your desired term of entry.
