Certificate iV in Youth Work

get the skills you need to work with and support 12-25 year olds. this course explores many social issues including aboriginal and torres Strait islander history, cultural diversity, poverty, homelessness, addiction and mental health. this course includes a practical placement, workshops and field trips.

Entry requirements

applicants of our children’s services, community and youth work courses need to demonstrate satisfactory language and literacy skills as well as a genuine passion for working in these sectors.

Working with Children and Police Checks are required for field placements.

Delivered at Kangan Institute’s Indigenous

Education Centre, our programs are taught

by industry professionals so you get current

knowledge and skills that employers seek.

The IEC is located on the ancestral lands of the Gunung Willam Balluk Peoples of the Wurundjeri. Kangan Institute acknowledges and pays respects to the Traditional Custodians and Elders past and present.

Already working in the industry?

Skills recognition is available to people currently working in the industry. this means you don’t have to complete the units of study you already know, saving you time and money as you gain the qualification.

Certificate iii in Children’s Services

this is the minimum qualification to gain employment in caring for and educating young children.

topics covered include:

• the importance of children’s play • Child development

• guiding children’s behavior

• Working with parents and the local community

the course is run two days per week and may be completed online.
