BBj Install for Beginners
This class will demonstrate the process involved with the installation of the v7.03 BBj in a Windows environment. The discussion will involve the JRE (Java Runtime Environment),
creating a Windows user and other prerequisites of the installation. Through the process, class discussion will involve some of the installation differences between BBx and BBj, desktop and enterpriseinstallation procedures.
Choosing Your Platform: BBj or Pro/5
This breakout will show you the benefits your clients can gain from the two platforms offered with OSAS v7.0 and 7.5. Understanding the requirements of the platforms and the features offered with each can help you recommend the solution that best fits your client’s needs.
BBj for the PRO/5 Programmer
Making the move to BBj can seem like a challenge for long-time PRO/5 programmers, but it's really not difficult. This special two-hour breakout session examines the many ways in which BBj and PRO/5 are alike, and also discusses the differences between them. If you program in PRO/5, you'll be surprised at how easy it is to move forward with your development efforts!
Common Support Questions with OSAS
This breakout will cover the most common recent support question topics; for example: printers, pathing, sharing documents and the JRE. If time permits we will also discuss the process and techniques that can be used to resolve common BBx and FlexLM errors through live examples.
Effectively Utilizing the Newest BASIS Features in OSAS 7.x
BASIS highlights some of the latest language features by creating a digital dashboard using the newest GUI controls such as graphs; spinner controls; and font, file/directory, and color
choosers. BASIS also demonstrates how to recreate traditionally preprinted forms employing
software that is programmed using either an object-oriented API (Application Programming Interface) or traditional mnemonics.

OSAS 7.0: Configuring/Using the Graphical General Report Writer
This breakout will walk through the installation and setup issues regarding the Graphical General Report Writer. It will include the configuration and use of the server as both an executable and as a windows service, and the customization of report displays.
OSAS 7.0: Exploring the BBj Enterprise Manager
This breakout will review and explore the relationship between several Enterprise Manager settings and your OSAS BBj installation. This breakout will include a discussion of the log files available to debug memory, BLM issues, and OSAS errors.
OSAS 7.03 BBj OSAS ODBC Setup
This breakout will walk through the basic setup and creation of data sources using the BBj ODBC Driver (OSAS version 7.03 with BBJ). With the setup of data sources, the breakout will demonstrate how to link these data sources to the OSAS data for use with Microsoft Excel, MS Query and Microsoft Access.

Security and OSAS
BBj offers several new security features, some of which are available in OSAS and some that you can optionally take advantage of with some changes to OSAS. Learn about all of the security options available to your clients, including passwords, file encryption, SSL, and Enterprise Manager tools.
Thin Clients for OSAS
You can run OSAS on BBj using any of three different thin client options: the BASIS Thin Client, Java Web Start, and the browser. Learn the benefits and drawbacks of each option and how to set them up so that you can help your clients choose the best option for them.
Troubleshooting OSAS Installs
Common issues encountered during and after the installation of the v7.03 Open Systems software will be addressed. Topics will include flexLM errors, BASIS License Manager, BBj Services administration, pathing setup implications and printer setup. This course is designed for attendees that would like simple explanations of the causes of these types of issues.
Understanding Networks and TCP/IP

This breakout discusses the installation, setup, and administration of Info-Alert as it interacts with OSAS. Access and SQL Tips Using TRAVERSE
This breakout will cover using both Access and SQL to trouble shoot TRAVERSE data and give some behind-the-scene pointers. A must attend class for the TRAVERSE support person. This is not a programming level class.
Creating Installable Updates: How to Deploy Modifications to Your Client Using TRAVERSE Technology
You’ve modified TRAVERSE for a client (or several clients) and you want to install it at their site with minimal manual intervention (or better yet, give them instructions to install it
themselves)! Come to this breakout to learn the easy and efficient tools utilized by the Open Systems Consulting department.
Custom Data Conversions
A demo will cover importing third party data into TRAVERSE. Simple data migration tools provided by SQL Server’s Enterprise Manager will be used to transfer data from Excel
spreadsheets and Access databases into SQL Server. Familiarity with Enterprise Manager will be needed for this part of the breakout.

SQL Server Reporting Services

TRAVERSE 10.5 DRP and MRP Product Overview
This presentation will be a functional overview of the DRP (Distribution Requirements Planning) and the MRP (Manufacturing Requirements Planning) products. These products are easy to present, have quick setup, and offer a lot of value for the dollar. Both products essentially utilize existing data in the Sales Order, Purchase Order, Inventory, Manufacturing, and BOM/Kitting areas.
